Hi there, my name is Paul from Port Coquitlam, BC. I have had the pleasure of having a few 'performance' cars but have never owned a Corvette of any year..... so, I purchased a new 2017 Grand Sport. Sadly the weather is not cooperating so I have only put 70kms on the car. Hoping to learn abt Vets from you all.......

Paul..
Welcome to the CCForums.
You’ve started off at a high mark of Corvettes!
Congratulations! Those GSs are nice cars.

It will be Spring soon...today is the official start of Winter being over!

Thanx for the pics.
Graham

Welcome Paul. You will find your Corvette not only comfortable and attractive.... but very fun to drive.
Very reliable and solid platform and not a lot of little quirks in the C7. The GS is very well balanced car with power, traction and suspension. Many prefer it for the track over the Z06.
On the street... simply great.

Enjoy.

Derek.

Welcome to the forum Paul. Pretty much been said already but you will love this car. We have a couple things in common as I only put 180 km on mine three years ago before it went into a 6 month nap. I spent a lot of days out in my VetteCave playing with all the buttons and leaning about the car. (Note... to play with some things, it needs to be running...lol...).... The other thing we have in common is having owned a muscle car or two.... The Corvette is not a muscle car. Your Corvette is a superbly well rounded sports car and you will soon experience that much like I did with my first one. Being in Port Coquitlam, you will likely have opportunity to get some driving time in, while we are frozen solid here in Alberta. I would caution that cold asphalt (+10 or cooler) can be tricky if you are heavy at all on the go pedal or try to push any g's so be careful there. Otherwise, enjoy your baby and enjoy that smile that will be stuck on your face from now on.

How dare you buy something much nicer than mine, and a newbie as well, ; ' )

nice ride you will like it ,

be careful the tires need ot be broken in, they are greasey for the first 300 kms no kidding, be careful

welcome and you will enjoy it I ma sure, got a wife and wish to come to the meet in the middle check it out Jeff 2016DSOM base 2lt

Thanks for the welcome fellas! I am contemplating taking the car out today. Temp is abt 4 right now but damn the roads are still yucky and wet-I dont want to get that damn 'spittle' all over the car then just put it back in the garage. To Jeffer 2013.... thanks for the heads up on the run flats, I have already changed them to Michelins (stock size) thereby giving me more flexibility should I want to take the car out on 'fair weather' days. Ill put the 'bald' run flats back on in the summer months so I can get a feel for them. Starting to look at Ebay for the rear exhaust filler piece. May as well make my few minor changes to it while its parked. Gotta run out now........ All the best of the Xmas Season to you all!

One more thing... you guys all have some pretty sweet rides..... RockyPm and RruffDay - ur cars look to be that coppery orange color..... I quite like it!

even if I am to the side of the group it is still a group, the 3 of us might be the 3 stooges or at least one stooge and his mentors Jeff

So Paul your GS had Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires on it? You changed them out to Michelin Super Sport tires?
If so... both are run flats and when you check you will find no spare tire in your car.
I did exactly the same change out with my car when I bought it this summer. There is a ton of threads on these tires so it’s worth the read.
As far as not having a spare tire... most of us carry compressors and plug kits (storage bin in the very back.. left hand side) as even though they are run flats better to top it up or plug it and drive to the tire shop than damage a $500 tire. The Sport Cup 2 are fantastic on dry warm roads but very sketchy in heavy rain or on cold roads. Need to be warmed up at the best of times. Too much drama for me.
The Super Sports are a more all around use tire but still need to be managed on cold or wet roads. The performance is close to the Cup 2s but the edge is much closer with them. Remember that messing around with your G meter.

Have fun.

Hey Jeffer2013....... I am completely ignorant on the meaning of DSOM ..... I am guessing you are meaning that your Vette is also what I referred to as burnt orange in color?

The stooges rock.... LOL

Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic....DSOM

Those guys all stick together....it’s a special club...

Ha Ha... I kid.. it is a great colour.
There is also a Daytona Sunrise Orange Metalic. I guess that is DSOM as well.

Graham
( I like black)

lol.... Just to clarify, RockyPM's C6 is a Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic.... Mine and Jeffers C7's are Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic.... There's a huge difference between sunrise and sunset at Daytona........Honestly, I think GM just had a bunch of C6 orange paint left over and wanted to use it up...

Welcome Paul
There's a lot of chatter about colour going on but,
I will admit that there's something about your LBR
that just makes me feel real goooooood ..... and
it's not the fact that one has to pay extra for it ...
Cheers!
