Going to do a new build for 2013 at DasilvaMotorsports. Basically to get the most out of the least-but by no means are we cheaping out-but were going to put the money where we feel is going to give the best return.

And with all that we have learned over the years-we have a pretty good understanding what we need and what we don't need.

Here's what we have collected:

2012-12-26133532.jpg

A brand new LS2 aluminum block, some Wiseco pistons with the older 1.5/1.5/3mm ring pack, a set a LSA heads which will get sent out for some CNC porting.

Were just waiting on a set of K1 billet H-beams and a 4340 stock stroke crank.

This is going to be a 365 cube motor topped with a YSi-goal is too make 1000 rwhp plus and run 8.6-8.8's at 160+mph. We also have plans to run this combo at a 1/2 mile event in Chicago this June, our goal is to run 185-190 mph in the half mile.

After this combo is thoroughly tested and put through it's paces-it will get yanked, refreshed and sold to a lucky customer-a tried/tested and proven combo!

Sounds like a great plan. Stock block is good for 1000 easy. Looking forward to results.

That going in your car ?

Yep it will go in my car-since it's the perfect platform to test with the suspension, fuel system, transmission stall combo already sorted out.

Manny will give a review of the "streetability" of the package-my view is a bit jaded.

For the half mile event the only change made will be different gearing in the rear end.

Oh Ya 1000 Hp turn key with street manners , now that's just down right NASTY!

"Streetability"..... lets face facts. Thanks to the internet there are many people who want 1000 rwhp, but once you get over 6-700 its more about bragging rights than streetability. Here around montreal there is no place to even begin to enjoy these cars. Sad but true.

Time to move to Ontario

can you include a parts cost breakdown as the engine build progresses ?

It's not cheap to do it right

This build includes

Torque plate honing of the cylinders
Line hone mains after doweling and pinning main caps
Square deck block surfaces 90* from main tunnel
Dowel pin main caps
Balancing
Hellfire rings
Speed Pro main
Speed Pro rod
Speed Pro HD babbit cam bearings
Wash, file fit rings, set all oil clearances, final assembly

With all the parts, new LS2 block, K1 billet rods, K1 4340 crank, Wiseco pistons, ARP main and head studs.

Total ends up an easy $5500.

There are alot cheaper alternatives out there but the fellow I deal with builds one engine at a time in a state of the art facility.

I only give out his name to a close friends-so he has time for my builds.

Don't forget-to add to this we still need a new LS2 front cover, valley cover, the kock sensor and cam harness, oil pump, timing chain, camshaft and lifters.

On top of this we have our Canadian Taxes to deal with and shipping to and from the US. There is no machine shop in Canada that I know of that can CNC the main caps and dowel them. This is not my first rodeo with the aluminum blocks and IMHO-pinning the caps is a MUST.

That's why when I sold my last engine combo from top to bottom for 10k-it was a STEAL!!!!!! That's why it sold so quick-there's gonna be one fast, fast car in Finland!

will that be it or would there be other turnkey packages available for more timid :) folk?

forgot to add that this is very very very impressive, looks like the sky is the limit... congrats

The best most cost effective turn key package would be get a A&A or ECS supercharger kit installed and tuned.

Manny has a great kit that includes headers, a meth kit and of course the A&A kit. For the C5's-add a mild cam and 600-650 rwhp is easily achieved-leave the cam and 550 rwhp is yours.

You cannot beat that ever with a stroker motor or head and cam package.

Very true-but I set myself up badly-after running 8's in a full street car-it's hard to go backwards.

But the days of 640 rwhp were lots of fun! I remember driving to the track-making one pass then being sent home!

Here's my car, stock with just headers, a mild cam and A&A kit.

Wayne,
what ?? You're 'timid' ?? Just think....would cut down your travelling
time to our Mud St. coffee gatherings. [g].

Would really push Colin's camera skills; don't know if he could get you in focus !!

Tony,
