My engine light is on, replaced cap, no fix, when tested by my GM retired engineer, it says, evaporator, emission system, vent valve/solenoid circuit. It looks like it is code P049, likely, but could be code P046. Anyone know an easy fix. For me it is likely a trip to my dealer, but sure don't want to spend big dollars. Any suggestions on what dealer costs would be?

the code is actually P0449, not P049 or P046 S/B P0446

If the problems have been fixed, the codes need to be cleared.
(They may or may not clear themselves after a set amt of ignition cycles)
Buy / borrow an OBD2 reader.

There's this, or can tire, or princess auto, etc

There is no easy fix, just replace it. I did it myself, as I recall had to remove passenger side muffler to get at it.
