Being a huge Zora Duntov fan, I cannot say that I don't want a mid-engine Corvette.  He actually built his own C5 mid-engine car, fully engineered by himself and gave his design to GM who threw it away as they already had approved the C5 design.  He wanted a mid-engine performance car from GM since the early 60's and never gave up on his dream throughout his whole career.

I will say this - GM trademarked his last name - DUNTOV within the last 8-10 months.  I would be ecstatic to see GM make a flagship mid-engine car and call it a DUNTOV, or whatever the general public would receive.  At this point, I believe the Corvette name should be reserved for front-engine, RWD layout.  Although, I won't be disappointed if GM calls is a Corvette xxxx(insert model name), and still continues to produce the Stingray, Z06, etc in the current design.
