Well just my luck, took the car out of storage and I have a service suspension system message. Had it checked out, and mice have eaten the Mag Ride Wiring at the top of the strut. Has this happened to anyone with a C8?

Unfortunately the wire is not sold as a separate part and I’m told I need to order whole new shock obsorber. As there isn’t enough wire left to reconnect the wires.

HOWEVER, when I got home i noticed the rubber cap can be removed and expose more wire ( about an inch).

Does anyone know if this can be spliced or reconnected somehow?

I think I’d like to try before replacing the parts at a large cost.

I did find this company who deal with GM magride systems. Might be worth giving them a call and explaining your situation. That’s all I can think of. Can you take a picture square on the end of the wire protruding from the end of the shock so we can get a better idea of the type of conductor that you’re dealing with ? There appears to be enough wire left that if it is just a standard , stranded , insulated conductor that you could strip enough insulation to get an insulated crimp/compression connector on there .

Which company did you find?
I found this under the car. Pretty sure it’s the mag ride wiring

That looks to me like it could be butt spliced with an insulated crimp connector. You only need about 3/4 of an inch . That was one vicious little rodent……:Reddevil:

One of these or similar of the appropriate size for the wire. I don’t see why that wouldn’t work. You will need a crimp tool if you don’t already have one.

I am gunna invest in some Honda rodent tape and look for some kind of flexible metal casing to put over wires

Glad to report that we were able to reconnect mag wires and car runs properly now. I will be investing in some Honda Rodent tape. I came across on YouTube some strut tower covers. Has anyone bought them and installed before?
