Lost Audio

Suddenly lost all audio. No music from any source, no turn signal sound, no Apple Carplay sound, no USB tunes sound. No Nav sound. No phone sound. etc etc etc. However, the main screen is still fully functional. Still shows EVERYTHING. Searching several US forums and I find that a few others have encountered the same problem and it is usually a dead amplifier. (located in passenger footwell). Amp on order and the issue will be addressed as soon as the amp arrives.

There are more service bulletins (TSB or TSBS) than I expected for the C8, according to carcomplaints.com:

The fourth from the bottom of their list entitled "electrical" takes you to TSB #PIC6407C which deals with the amplifier and ultimately takes you to this pdf:

It places the amplifier for a couple of different GM vehicles (including the '20 and '21 C8) "on restriction" (whatever that means) and talks about its replacement.

With that many I feel fortunate to have had no real problems with my 2020 but perhaps many are dealt with OTA?

I've read a few threads now over on the other forum about people doing an OTA and losing all audio. The amp needed to be replaced for everyone who posted with the problem.

So is there a way of disabling these OTA updates? I use to do updates religiously for my BMW when I first got it. Never really noticed any benefits, so I stopped. Haven't done an update in 3+ years. Car still runs, drives, communicates with my phone, and does everything that you would want from a car or an infotainment aspect. Oh wait maybe I need to RTFM when I get it. LOL :)

In the long term just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the extended warranty...asking for a friend . LoL
Pay the most you can for the least amount of time...or is it the other way around?

The amp has been replaced and all is working well. It took about an hour and they did NOT have to disconnect the battery so all my vehicle and radio settings remain. . It is located in the passenger footwell area. The replacement amp has a different part # so hopefully the problem has been permanently dealt with.

happy you had it rectified...
No he had it rectum-fried
