I am new to this forum and I am in the market now for a C6 Z06 Corvette and I have read reviews of the 3 years that I am considering ( 2006, 2007 or 2008 ). Some state ( for example ) to stay way from 2006 the first year of the C6 Z06 model ( transmission keeps coming up as a red flag ) but others say there are no problems really and I was hoping for some "real world" advice from current and past owners of these model years from this forum.

I live in Toronto and I guess the most pressing question is where to purchase and get the best deal overall because I have scanned the Autotrader, Kijiji and other internet selling sites like "Platinum Auto Sales" and I have visited local dealers like Wilson Nibblet and it seems that prices ( and mileage ) are all over the map ?

I would like the best deal possible ( which I thought would be a private sale ) but what confuses me is that pricing seems to follow no logical path ( two compariable cars same model year with high and low mileage might have the same asking price on the same website - why wouldn't the higher mileage car have a lower sale price and when contacted, the seller will not budge even though you prove that there are comparables with less mileage on this same website that he is advertising his C6 Z06 for sale ) ?

Can anyone shed some light on this and point me in a direct that will help me aquire my first Corvette C6 Z06 and lastly is there a guide ( website ) that will give me true values of what I should be looking to pay for each model year ( depending on condition and mileage ) ?

Thank you in advance.

I noticed that you mentioned the transmissions were a problem. I didn't know that, but I do know that there are valve train issues, as my son has an 06 z06. He sent his heads to Manny for a rebuild and some porting/polishing as well. Vast improvement! Good luck to you in your search, and as for Manny and Dasilva Motorsports, my son lives in Alberta and sent his business to Ontario, so there's a pretty good sense of who you can safely deal with when you do find your vette

Agreed on who you can trust with your Vette!
See if anyone has had the valves/heads done to eliminate the chance of dropping a valve into the motor.
Also, the reason why different cars may be the same price is because they have different option packages. I believe there was a 1LT, 2 LT, and 3LT with a 4LT in the later years.
In 2008, they upgraded the rear end in the Z06 as well as a few other things.
If your going for performance, the 2006 and 2007 Z06's are the lightest of the group.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you get!

Thank you so much.

I do understand that there are different option packages but if you compare cars on the internet side by side ( same model year to same model year from private seller to private seller and compare dealer to dealer ) prices vary wildly. I am hoping that there are current C6 Z06 owners that can point me in the direction of the best value ( I know that there is room for reasonable negotiations and in the end, if a buyer feels that the price is too high he can ultamitely walk away ) based on their experiences and if they know someone or somewhere that is selling a reputable product at a fair price. Is there a online price guide that gives current values of Z06 corvettes ( Kelly Blue book or the Canadian Black Book ) based on model year and mileage that a new owner can base his search on ?

It seems that the C6's got better every year and that the first year ( 2006 ) is more likely to have problems (valve train ) that might come back to haunt the new owner and I guess ( I could be wrong ) that it might be advisable to stay away from that model year or ....... ?

if anyone out there knows of a price guide that is reiiable and accurate for someone looking for a C6 Z06 corvette please let me know and thank you for your time.

mileage with vetted can be tricky as well. A well maintained vette can be driven for A LONG time. Also, a low-mileage vette that has seen nothing but track can be pretty rough. Buyer beware!
