Not all, but a good number of C7s with A8 develop rear end shimmy or vibration. Feels like wheels out of balance. Known issue and Chevy has a TSB on it. I had my TQ flushed which solved it for about 2000 km then they had to change the TQ under warranty.

Curious why you would want an auto C7 Z06? I certainly understand the desire for a manual, but it's impossible to get that power to the road without slicks. Are you going to race it? I'd much prefer a Stingray DCT to a C7 Z06 auto.

I had a 2017 M6 Stingray and a 2019 A8 Grand Sport. I found the C7 A8 to be a bit of a slush box. Paddle shift in manual mode results in a few milli-second delay which can get frustrating but you will get used to it and it is still faster than most people can manual shift the M6.

The A10 in my '24 Camaro SS has zero delay when paddle shifting.

Ha I’ve been eyeing this one as well. I have a 2016 manual z06… but love that color and the various improvements the 19 has for cooling.

It won’t disappoint!
My understanding following reading the available literature on this issue was that the overheating problem which occurred when tracking the C7 (Z06) was problematic only on those with automatic transmissions and not those with manual transmissions. I also read that the overheating issue was addressed on the 2019 model year.

I agree with your statement preferring a C8 (DCT Automatic) versus a C7 Z06 Automatic. The C7 automatic transmissions have (milliseconds) delays when shifting. The shifts with DCT transmission in the C8’s are immediate which is desired. That’s why my Z is a “manual”……….

This is true, however the 2019 does have many upgrades such as ZR1 control arms and fuel pump, recalibrated mag ride, larger radiator and new IC pump to stop cavitation.

Some of you guys prioritize manual transmissions waaaaaay too much....😄. Not sure what the big thrill is about rowing gears in a car that's meant to go fast. In an 18 wheeler or an old classic pickup truck, ok, I "get it"....lol. But in a 650 HP car? No thanks!

But yes, the A8 does have a slightly annoying delay when manual shifting. You can hit the rev limiter if you don't take the delay into account.

I feel more at “one” with a car with a manual transmission. Downshifting is a blast and ensuring you’re always in the correct gear and RPM range instant torque is there when you want it (no hesitation whatsoever) ….………and considering you could take first gear up to 100 kph you’re not shifting excessively like as you would as you described in an 18 wheeler, which would quickly become annoying. I’ll give you the fact that automatics in general are faster, as noted with the C7 A8’s versus the C7 M7’s and now even more so with the blisteringly quick shifts the DCT in the C8’s can pull off, but I didn’t buy my car to race it, I bought it to enjoy it and I feel there’s more enjoyment with a manual.

You will also note that cars with manual transmission’s are more desirable with collectors and after market sales.

I've owned a 2021 and 2022 GT500 with the dct, even with 760hp there is no comparison to the manual C7Z in terms of engagement.

Sorry gents but I'll just never ever understand it. I learnt to drive using a 3 in the tree and grew up around the farm driving manual transmissions most of my young life. I don't feel any less engaged paddle shifting an automatic vs clutching & rowing. But, to each their own!

I guess this means I can find a C7 ZR1 with A8 at a discount then!

Until ya race a dual clutch and get beat due to the “super-human” shift pattern.
Read the posts…..it’s a given that automatic’s are faster than a manual, but they don’t provide near the feedback you get with a manual transmission…..and with the severe consequences today (stunt driving) who’s racing when that really draws the attention of not only the police but amateur videographers with their iPhone!

The DCT is so much faster, accurate and, is for me, more fun to track with the paddle-shifters vs. rowing the gears. I prefer to track my DCT over of my standard shifter vehicles, unless it is a “Sunday” drive of course. Sure, the 6 speed is more visceral, but, not in the same league during competition. My experience with the DCT is that the feedback on a down or upshift at full throttle is jarringly dramatic. I did not suggest or condone street racing, not so much because of cameras but common sense. Happy Motoring!
