1978 Corvette
Hey there I changed the spark plugs on my 1978 Corvette with the L82 engine and I totally forgot that this engine is different that my old 1988 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 which they had coil packs. I haven't had an engine with a distributor since 93 which it was a 1982 Citation X-11 with a 2.8 High Output V6..

Now I need to find out which one is spark plug #1...

I see that on the intake manifold on the driver's side it's shows 1 3 5 7 which I know it's the spark plug numbers for the firing sequence.

Please help..

Hello SM..
The firing order is 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2. Clockwise around the cap.
This should be cast into the plastic retaining ring on the top of the distributor.
I believe the wire for cylinder #1 is the terminal closest to the 'M' in 'REMY' on the front of the distributor cap.
Cylinder #2 should be closets to the 'tach' terminal in your picture. Cylinder #8 nearest the 'L' in DELCO.
Usually the #1 plug wire starts at the #1 terminal and goes clockwise around the cap to come out and down on the driver's side.
Do you have an assembly manual(AM) for your car yet?
They are an invaluable tool to make things correct on the car.
The AM shows correct spark plug wire routing thru all the grommets.
Making things correct can be a rewarding challenge.
good luck...have fun...
Let me know if you need some pics of my similar 1975.

Replaced spark plugs with AC Delcos and replaced the spark plug wires with some Taylor's which I had to custom fit to perfection. lol
