I just notice today that my car was leaking a red coolant on the front passenger wheel area. Anyone knows or had this problem before?

I`ve replaced my coolant with a yellow glycol that is compatible with all coolants. Sounds like the error in your initial observations are due to the colour of the dexcool being similar to that of the shock absorber oil.

Red hydraulic fluid and Dexcool can easily be distinguished.

Here are simple instructions:
1. You dab it on your finger.
2. Stick said finger under water.
3. Does it dissolve?
4. If YES, it is water-miscible. And that can only be coolant in this car.
5. If NO, and it is still on your finger, it is oil. Could be more than one type of oil.

BTW.> for the other post on here, the front lift uses brake fluid, and that is yellowish clear. Not red.

That`s a great test carbuff. Note that some people commonly add a lubricant and `water-wetters` to their coolant, I don`t know what effect this would have on this test.

I have never needed to add anything other than a rosin type stop leak, as Canada conditions wrrant a slightly different approach than our neighbours down south.

My assessment was 100% correct, the shock was leaking and the dealer had confirmed it and replaced the faulty shock.
