The headlining ZR1X may even be in contention for a production car lap record.

With a base price of 2,800,000 USD it should . I think I would rather have 14For reference.
The current lap record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife for production road cars is held by the new Mercedes AMG ONE, with a lap time of 6 minutes and 29.09 seconds on the full 20.832 km distance, and 6 minutes and 24.03 seconds on the shortened 20.6 km distance. The record was set on September 23, 2024.
Exactly. And given the distance a 19 second difference is more than respectable. Also that is without a professional driver in the C8 . Be interesting to see what Alonso or Verstappen could lap given a couple of practice sessions. Also makes me wonder why anyone would buy the ZR1X over the ZR1 given the lap time difference is only 1.5 seconds. Basically a rounding error.Yeah, the MB is a barely legal F1 Car...
I will wait for DW to explain. lol.Exactly. And given the distance a 19 second difference is more than respectable. Also that is without a professional driver in the C8 . It is faster. The Porche lapped it in 6:54 .I was hoping it would be a little quicker than the GT3RS just because everyone was bragging how fast it was on the American Tracks.
I hope GM take note not to make the C9 so porky. The ZR1 couldn't out run the 1/2 HP in the GT3RS but also it was built for a different purpose.
I cheated and browses aheadI could walk around the ring before Conti gets to the lap……..lol.
In the vid, they said the GT3RS did 6:49x?It is faster. The Porche lapped it in 6:54 .![]()
I am flattered that you feel I may be able to offer a valid opinion on these track results, as well as the reasons to go ZR1X vs ZR1.I will wait for DW to explain. lol.
Z06 vs Eray? However the awd cost more in this comparison.
Even if the difference in lap time was 19 or 20 seconds why carry that extra weight and obvious potential complications just to be partially “ Green “ ? Mind you , you get apparently about 9 km being quiet. I like my neighbours, but not that much , lol. Very slippery slope this “ Green “ thing. Next thing you know….any decent vehicle with an ICE becomes too expensive for the average person to own which will be a sad day indeed.I am flattered that you feel I may be able to offer a valid opinion on these track results, as well as the reasons to go ZR1X vs ZR1.
I don't track my car, with the majority of my driving spent touring the farmlands of South-Western Ontario on weekend jaunts.
My mechanical abilities were also tested today by a DIY fix of my center console button, all without venturing to the dealership.
To the tiny minority of those that actually have the ability and confidence to push a car like this to its limits, my hat is off to you.
That being said, here we go:
The 'gap' between the ZR1X and the ZR1 surprises me as I would have expected quite a bit more.
I'm speculating that at these speeds, on a track like this, a whole lot comes down to the driver's abilities, rather than that of the car.
Noticeably, the drivers were not true professionals (good, but not great).
This was done, of course, by GM still attempting to show the World that this is a car for the 'average' guy.
Nonetheless, it would be interesting to see if a true race car driver would widen that gap.
On the issue of buying a ZR1X over a ZR1, I believe some will only want the 'best of the best' for bragging rights, and some, such as myself, will see this car as the next evolutionary step forward from the E-Ray.
There are a whole bunch of reasons that I went E-Ray over a Z06, primarily focussing on the type of driving I do.
Never, during my exhaustive research or discussions with dealers, did I try to save a few bucks by going with the E-Ray over the Z06.
Now, if I was offered an allocation on a ZR1 or a ZR1X, I would probably go with the ZR1X, as it seems to be more in tune with that same logic.
I'm assuming (again) that the front wheel drive and extra horsepower of the ZR1X will exude dominance under normal ('off-track') driving.
As a side note, should that day ever happen when I get a call to place an order, it will not have that picnic table on the rear end, it will be a convertible (unfortunately deleting the upper vents and the split window), and it will be, of course, black.
I must say that I am a bit concerned about all that 'noise', but to be sure, Amazon will have some stylish earmuffs for the Mrs..
Do I really need a ZR1X? - Hell no!
Would it be fun to own one - Of course it would.
