Kudos to the great C5er's.

I have never driven a C6 nor a C7, reality is I could not afford one so why bother. I am happy with the design and performance of my C5Z, like others I still look over my shoulder at it when walking away. The last Corvette I drove prior to buying mine was a 73 with a 454. I did not drive this one either before buying, just went in a bought it.

Not wild about the front end but the rear end, which so many do not care for, is too me the best styling point of the car. Reminds me of the old Can Am cars, not too shabby in my mind.

Interesting article, thanks for posting.

Ive always liked the C5 from front to back, side to side. To me,A nice clean Millenium Yellow Vert is one of the most eye soothing cars you can see going down the road. I love watching one go by !!

I think in 40/50 years that design will be a sought after car. Long after we're all gone boys. Your kids kids kids will look at these like we do the mid and late 60s/early 70s.

Nice article. I didn't realize how close the Corvette was to fading away, however, by the late 90's a lot of sports cars were put to pasture. I wasn't super pumped on the looks of the C5 when it first came out, with the billboard of a rear end and round front. But as time's gone by, it's really grown on me and I really like the rear end of these cars. Glad they saved it. I think the only car right now that I would want to trade up for would be a C6Z or GrandSport. Of course a C7 would be nice but that's way out of the budget. We'll see what happens. Maybe some additional power to keep up with the new stuff, some new seats, and I'd be extra content with what I have now.

This book mentioned in the link is a must read for anyone into Corvettes.
All Corvettes Are Red. By James Schecter.

It talks about the car but mainly it takes you into the inner workings of GM.
It also explains why this car wasn't a 1993 as originally planned!
And also the stories about the missing hood pin, and why run flats where needed..
A good read.

I love the look of my C5. I enjoy walking towards it in a parking lot. And it's always a long walk. I would love to have a radio controlled 50th to match my car. Didn't know they ever made them.

And I just ordered the book from Amazon.
