Leeann surprised me on her visit down here in Michigan with not one but TWO surprises! The first was signing us up for Hero Rush (a firefighter challenge, think Tough Mudder). We did unexpectedly well (for us), as we have never done an event like this. Leeann placed 29th out of over 500 women total, and I placed 39th out of over 600 men total. We both felt a huge sense of accomplishment afterwards. On a side note for those of you going to the Woodward Ave. Cruise this summer, you have to go eat at Vinsetta Garage!! We had our post race meal there and it is incredible! It is an old 50`s service station converted to a restaurant. Check youtube for vids, you will not be dissappointed.
The second surprise was skydiving in Tecumseh, MI. What a blast!! I don`t think that we really even had time to feel scared because we were too busy wallowing in self pity from Hero Rush the day before and from a grueling mountain bike(trail ride) outing with some Michigan friends. I am telling you it is quite the experience to skydive. I have been wanting to do this since I was 16 and now at almost 38, I have finally done it, thanks to my girlfriend!:coolgleam:

Sounds like you're having a great time in Michigan. You'd never get me jumping out of a plane.

Great job on the firefighter challenge and being able to scratch one off your bucket list!!! Sounds like you got a keeper there!!!!

Justin you slacker! You never told me you were into extreme trail running! You make me feel like such a poser now with my sad 10 km races on pavement!!

Well, spraying is done, maybe do a few fields a second time but 1st applications done and oh it feels great! 33 above so I'm off to run the dike.

Manny is back from vacation and was suprised that the car has not arrived yet so is goign to contact the shipper tomorrow and let me know where it is! Much excitement now!!

Cheers,

Garry

Hahaha! Thanks Garry, but if anyone's a poser it's me. I give runners huge credit. I really don't know where you guys get the inner strength to keep going for 1/2 and full marathons.
Hopefully you will be able to get more running in now that work is settling down (I'm using that term losely, i know how you farmers work).
That really sucks about your car. You must be dying to drive it again. Manny will get to the bottom of this so at least that can give you piece of mind.
Take care, and maybe sign up for a Tough Mudder or two.;)

Good evening Justin,

Well you did motivate me to try harder. I got in 3.5 miles on the treadmill in the basement this morning and it still got me sweaty. But after reading how well you did I felt I had to make an effort so I just got back from Peace River where I ran 10 km along the dike. It was 33 above when I started and 40 when I finished, I think the longest and hottest run for me. My pace was 5:50 on the way out and 6:14 on the way back, my only stop when I spotted two quarters on the ground I had to stop to pick up!!

I drank about 750 ml during the run and 500 ml in the car and now another 500 ml that I am at home. Most important thing for me is to go every day so that I always have bragging rights about going out to exercise on the coldest and hottest day of the year!

I've never run in mud, rain yes but never mud. I've done some sand trails though and if mud is like that that is exhausting!

Spotted a red C5 vert with a black roof on the run and also met a grey C5 coupe on the drive home.

I sure can't wait for the phone call - THIS WEEK I HOPE!!

Cheers,

Garry

Fantastic Garry! Great to hear that you are making your runs regularly. That alone is a motivator for me. Love hearing that stuff.
Can't wait to heat about your first drive in your Z06 in your stomping grounds. Should be exciting to say the least. I was missing my baby whike in Michigan, so when I came home for a visit last weekend I drove it there. It was so nice to stretch the legs on her again. Even though I only had 3 more days of work it was still worth it. I had a fantastic drive today from Livonia, MI., to Kitchener.
Keep up your posts Vette related or not. They are always a good read. Take care.
