Redundant. The 2020 Corvette has Android Auto and Apple Carplay; Want Nav? Use your phone.

You all make valid points, think I will Chang my build.

Thanks

JB

Don't be to quick to drop that option, I know EJCHEVY opinion is no but it depends if you are going to track the car, like seeing your 0 to 60, valet mode etc.. a good GoPro will cost you $700. I have it on my build FYI and will track the car :)

What this guy said.

IMO, for the same cost, I like the flexibility of a GoPro plus accessories that can pull the telemetry info from the car. It's a lot more work than plugging in an SD card and pressing "record" for sure.

Hi
I had 3 c7 corvettes before and only my last one grand sport didn't have Nav-Pdr option, I can tell u one thing, I really regret it not getting it. I did install blackvue 750s dual channel cameras but it was never same as having Pdr, when it gets to apple CarPlay it's great future to have, but if you lose internet connection on your phone you lose your navigation as well, so I prefer gm nav, that's why I'm getting nav-pdr option this time , I learned my lesson. Up to you, your car your money.

Yeah, good point. I currently enjoy my Nav in my current car (not dependent on an internet connection) including all the POI functions. I thought the PDR would be a useful feature, not one to buy a dash cam and mount, never the s@me as OEM.

I Think I will throw the IOT, NPP money into Z51, I will be getting a lot more features for an extra $2510 difference.

Also the PDR is much improved over the C7 now it's full HD 1080P also can be used as a dash cam automatically when you start the car

I’m not buying a C8 (or anything other than my C4), but I have a 2016 F-150 with carplay/android capability as well as the big nav screen.

I tried carplay, but I found it irritating and limited. It also didn’t integrate very well with the truck voice control features and it disabled other features, both in carplay and the truck entertainment center.

Turned it off and never used it again. The integrated stuff works much better. Everywhere.

Can’t speak to how GM does it, but I absolutely HATED Carplay. Horrible horrible piece of software. Maybe if you were in the States where a lot of Carplay services are based (ie: waze, spotify, pandora, etc) it might be better, but it sucked moose-balls here in Atlantic Canada.

Video I can’t comment on. I use 1080P dash cams already, on everything I drive, even the C4. I even have them on my motorcycle helmet and on the bike itself.

The F-150 has cameras front and rear since its my daily. Someone rear ends me, I get it on video. The front one has a motion sensor so that when it’s parked, it turns on for a couple minutes when it “sees” something or the truck gets “bumped” or “jostled” in any way.

I’ve had one of those “back into you and claim you rear ended them” events before at a stop light. Chummy thought he was home free when the rcmp showed up until I played back the video. Mucho explano he had after that. RCMP reaaalllly don’t like it when people make false claims....

My C7 does not have PDR and I really wish I had it. If it were $1k would I pay for it? Absolutely. $1,500? Probably. $2,000? I'd have to really think about it and see what kind of build-your-own options are out there.

I personally haven't used Apple CarPlay as I don't use Apple products, but I've used Android Auto in many, many vehicles and find it easy to use and integrates very well into GM's MyLink system.

If you do use Android, if you lose connection to the mobile network, you don't lose navigation as you do with Apple. Apple is constantly streaming to keep its maps up to date, but with Android, you can easily set it up to download the maps before you set off and even if you lose your data connection, it'll continue to work until you get to your destination.
