Hello everyone,I’ve been making some big changes to the 74 but am now in a little bit of a pickle.ive changed to the hooker stainless headers and pipes and in doing so have decided to change the cam, intake and carb.my problem is my car is an auto and I do not have enough room under the new carb for the stock vacuum fitting that goes in my intake.ive ordered a single port one from corvette depot it’s not here yet and we ran the headlight vacuum line directly to an extra port on the carb so my question is if this fitting isn’t correct or will not work that I have coming what has others done? There must be an option when changing the carb?!? Thanks!!

I'll take a shot at it. Yes, you need vac for the distributor advance, modulator valve, brake booster, headlights etc . Without that big port there is no where else to tap into. Off hand possibilities :

1. If still have air cleaner to hood clearance then a carb spacer / adapter can be installed and ported for what you need .

2. Drill the intake manifold and tap for the fitting.

3. Install a belt driven vacuum pump .

4. There are electric vac pumps also but not sure how good if run continous.

I’m hoping the fitting I have coming is low profile enough to work and that the port on the new carb is putting enough vacuum to make things work properly.if not only other option I see would be l88 hood and use a spacer on the carb....the intake I bought is the edelbrock performer and the carb is a Holley street avenger
