premium price for mine through DAS Global because I needed it up
DAS Global was my main broker and did it all for me because my car wasn't a running vehicle. [it was a huge risk but it ended up as a nicely stored Barn Find and low mileage C2 survivor]

Here's who I dealt with...

I paid a premium for my non running C2 but if yours runs then the cost will be substantially less through them... all in all... for a vette I would pay a premium price through shipper like DAS Global and have the broker deal with everything on your behalf, if this is your first time doing this...

If not.... plan the travel well in advanced and get confirmation dates as to when it will arrive at the border crossing of your choice... ensure you have original title of the car, transfer papers and all other supporting documentation for Canada customs... send it in well in advance and don't move the vehicle from the dealer until everything is in place and ready... because you don't want it stuck at the border waiting for paperwork when all paperwork should already be done, failure here will cost you a bundle! check and then check again... there's a Canada customs web-page ...somewhere...
you need to find this web-page and follow it faithfully if you don't plan on using a broker

there were several separate agents I went through with Carol as my main broker through DAS Global. She did it all for me, the few other agents she organised on my behalf were;

Great information Jeff. Pics of that C2 would be cool to see. If you are having it shipped, you also need to include the original title copy, bill of sale and customs documents in the glove box. I went thru this process 8 years ago, and it was a learning process. The only delay was even though I had a certified bank draft, the sellers bank in Arkansas took 24 hours for the monies to clear before they would release the title. Full GST must be paid on the purchase price, as well as a AC tax if so equipped. Antique vehicles are exempt from duty. All the correct information from the buyer must also be filled out on the rear side of the title before placing in the glovebox before shipping. I made several color copies of all original documents to be safe.

Happy shopping everybody!

I bought a running 58 Impala in Las Vegas in 1981 , dragged a trailer there and back, showed the bill of sale at the border and maybe 20 minutes and I was gone hassle free outta there . Then in 1998 we were at the swap meet in Portland Oregon, went down with the bus a whole pile of us, my buddy ended up buying a 57 Lincoln 2 door ht , oh man now what I thought, but other buddy had a dealer plate , 4 of us jumped in the 57 and drove it home trouble free. Same thing at the border maybe 20 minutes of paperwork and inspection and we were gone no problems getting through. Maybe today it is tougher, but before it was simple to bring a car back.

The USA side of the border at the Peace Gardens wants to see the Title and Bill of Sale 48 hours before I arrive with the vehicle. I faxed it to them. Back when the dollar was almost even they had a thick book with this paperwork in it from hundreds of Canadians. I followed the instructions at RIV.ca and all went smooth. As I stated before in another thread, back when I did this a couple of times, a Recall Clearance Letter was really important. If RIV doesn't receive it from you, the vehicle will not be registered in Canada. A dealership in the USA can get it for you. Failing that, 10 years ago I could call GM at 1-888-467-6853 and they could help with that.
