I put it all back together and was running great. Then I shut it off and I heard a hissing sound. I found it! Coming from the intake manifold just below the thermostat. Now I have to take the whole thing apart again and put new gaskets and sealant under the manifold. The big question is do I put Vortec heads on it with a Vortec intake manifold. And a cam of some kind and new injectors?

sounds alot of work. How about try a cheap fix like jb weld or high temp silcone if you can dab a shot there ?? big expense swapping the heads / intake for how much gain ? sometimes when the heads are done on a used bottom end then it sucks oil past the rings . It's like where do you stop ? , 1/2 job , no job or do it all while it is apart.

Would that work JB weld or silicone? Or should you just put new gaskets in? It's leaking right on the corner where the gaskets sit under the manifold at the front drivers side corner.

Are you still running the stock injectors?

The Multitec Injectors they were using back in the day were not designed to handle fuels containting ethonal.
The electrical insulation in the injector will fail and start shorting out..

I think I would be tempted to pull the intake and redo the gaskets.

I'm not a mechanic, nor do I profess to be a Corvette expert, but if I used silicone or JB Weld, which most of the time I swear by, I would always be wondering when it would start leaking by again..... I have to agree with Don in this instance.... Change out the gaskets Sherman!

the hissing sound is abit strange . if the gasket around the port is leaking then you hear suction and no sealer like I suggested will fix that. I would still just try the silicone or jb weld to see what happens , it's a cheap try . If that cyl has been leaking for awhile then that spark plug might be a lighter color than the rest being running more lean , or if close to oil then it could be fouling the plug. You got all winter to figure this one out and fix it.

Update I ordered new gaskets I will tear it apart again.

I think I will Change injectors any suggestions?
24 # injectors instead of the stock 22#. I see they are cheap to buy now, which brand?

FIS makes some pretty good stainless steel injectors, A good source for C4 parts is "Jerry's Gaskets" very good to deal with.
