Question How Long Does PDI process take on the new C8?

No, I’m talking about the actual PDI process at the dealership when the car arrives. How long does that process take?

This depends on the accessories the customer has selected. A typical PDI takes around, I would say, two hours, mostly due to a large array of undercarriage parts that need to be installed. If the customer ordered the optional high wing, the installation of that part alone is upwards of 4 hours.

Ultimately, the more LPO items ordered, the longer the PDI will take.

SO REALLY THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOTHING OF ANY SUBSTANCE TO ACTUALLY CHECK OUT THE VEHICLE

just add the parts the factory did not install great

I'm not sure how many lines make up BGA, but there's an inspector at the end of every one, if not more.
At the end of the line every car gets fired up (unless it's got issues) and put on a dyno, then driven to 1 of 2 places.....repair area, or shipping.
Any noted repairs are done (if detected) and sent to shipping.
Once shipped, the dealer pieces it together with accessories that are unfit to ship / assemble in the factory.
Once it's put completely together, the PDI mechanic takes it for a road test / inspection and takes care of any issues he finds.
Customer picks up his / her new shiney, and finds / reports issues as necessary.

The actual answer to this question is that the Pre-Delivery Inspection takes about 1.5 hours plus the time of LPO installation which includes checking everything from your USB ports to Dual Clutch Transmission shifter operation, basically, it's a complete walkaround and inspection to ensure 100% customer satisfaction.

I can't speak for other dealerships, but I know here at Wilson Niblett we take this process very seriously and only allow two of our senior technicians to perform this process.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions?

I don't think that's what Eric is saying. I have a sneaky suspicion dealers don't want you coming back same day reporting issues.

Is that what I said? I figured it didn't need to be said that a PDI includes a complete check of all of the components in the vehicle to ensure nothing is damaged and everything works correctly. That's what a PDI is. The difference between a Corvette and any other vehicle is there are a number of additional items that need to be installed, LPO or not.

This reaction has got me confused.

The original question was "how long does it take?" not "What is involved?"

I believe I answered the question by stating how long it typically takes.

Well the dealership does take the car out to fill it up with gas and test drive it to make sure everything is right. So I figure that will take the mechanic a week. Just to be sure. LOL.

I can definitely help you out with that information!

Just to clarify are you asking about delivery time from the initial deposit or say after your order hits status 3000?
I'm at 3000 status. What would your crystal ball say delivery would be in normal times? Its a convertible so I know they might start making them by May now. :-(

Dealerships are actually not to take cars out for drives for PDI any longer. This changed sometime last year. I cannot speak for other dealerships, but we only add fuel as needed for customer test drives or for delivery of a sold vehicle.

Here is the check list.

Really? Good to know. I didn't even want them to take it our for gas. I had fears that it would draw a big crowd and it only takes a second for something to go south. I'll tell my dealership not to take it out if thats allowed. I have been putting gas in my cars for 50 years so I think I can manage that part. LOL.

All sold vehicles get a full tank of gas. For everything except for Corvettes, I'll go out and fill the vehicle myself, or our detailing guy will do it.

With a 'Vette, I gauge it on the customer's level of perceivable OCD. If they're very OCD, I'll ask them what they would prefer. If they aren't I'll gas it up myself.

For the new Corvette, I'll be asking them 100% of the time what they want me to do.

Very OCD here. LOL.
