I seldom buy magazines these days but I picked up the latest issue of Hot Rod Magazine.

Great Corvette Issue.

In depth write up on the actual first "427 Mystery Motor". Some interesting historical information about Duntov, Mickey Thompson and Smokey Yunick. Great article

Also a significant amount of information on small block Chevrolet's.

Really good issue and worthy of a good nights read.

Doug, interesting that you mention the 421 Pontiac because there is also an article in the same issue about them. In 1963 Pontiac was terrorizing the competition on the drag strips. They built 12 Tempest racers, 6 station wagons and 6 coupes all with 421. One coupe was pulled from the group and turned into a road racer which won the 1963 Challenge Road Race Cup at Daytona. Absolutely trounced the competition. Supposedly it ended up in the hands of Mercedes Benz. Never seen again.

Also in the same issue is an article about using the Chevrolet LS series engines in aeroplanes.
