Corvette 1978 SA
Hello. Thanks for letting me join your forum. I am new to Corvettes, and I have a Canadian '78 SA, now over here in the UK with me. It seems to have spent its life around Ontario, until a year ago. But I know nothing much of its history. Maybe one of you guys does...!

Hello English Fellow..
Welcome to the Forum.
Post up a few pics of your '78 Silver Anniversary.
Maybe some of the Ontario members have some insight into your car.
If the car was originally sold in Canada I believe you can submit the serial number to someone to have it traced.

Good luck.

it's such a sweet drive, and so pretty, wife and I decided it was a keeper, and got some new paint and other bits for it. I'll endeavour to upload some pics soon. Although it's just an L48 SA! Someone, sometime put pace car spoilers on it, I think they really suit it. Apart from the radio, the only non-gen bits I think. The air in the tyres is still Canadian.

vintageracer, we're in Yorkshire, in the cold damp north!

Graham, when you say serial number, is that what I'd call the VIN...?

Sorry.. meant VIN...
There is some place here that can get information about your car.
I'll try and find the place... maybe it is just to get the option list.
Can someone else chime in here..I think there is a fellow in Ontario that can trace this info.

Hey English Fella... it may be the "cold damp North" but you and your county folk did come up with Yorkshire Pudding! That makes you a "great people" in my opinion.
David
p.s. I was born in Derby. We came to Canada when I was 2.
p.p.s. what we Colonials often refer to as a serial number... is the same as a V.I.N.

Here's some photos from the guy who painted it. His work is great (but his photography less so). Maybe someone from Ontario will recognise that 25th anniversary vinyl on the back window...?

It's asking me if I want thumbnails or full images, apologies if full images are toooooo big, here we go...

Welcome aboard EF. Beautiful 78. I have a special place in my heart for 76-79s. Lucky you to be so close to some classic racetracks. Do any of them offer track days ? Places like Silverstone,Brands Hatch,Donington. Another thread though. Again, welcome.

Thank you Mikey, but tracks are quite a long way off for me. I can just about drive in a straight line most of the time, so I'd rather not show myself up. And it's an L48, so I'll just enjoy the ride! (I've got a couple of other cars if I need to prove a point ;) )

Correct me if am wrong SN-III, but from what it shows me, this looks like repro stuff for '81 onwards cars, I've a '78....?
Oooops!:Banghead: Sorry you are correct and I jumped the gun :Pistolsmiley: before comparing with your C-Year.
I guess family trees only go back so far eh! (eh! in this context is Canadian for "hey I'm an idiot" :Shamefullyembarrased: )
Apologize for the tease .... :Sorry:

None due! I've gone too far with the car already, I should just enjoy it and not go down the anxt trail of performance, authenticity, show quality et al. Got a couple of other cars like that, and it makes it harder to enjoy them

Very kind of you ... and ... My hope is that without your being able to gain some of the heritage specific to your beautiful C3, it will go down a little better that in my reminiscing back to being 9 years old, it was in fact the most awesome Brand New Silver C3 parked across from my Parent's house, that initiated my enthusiasm for owning a Corvette of my own. Although the two C3 model years do not coincide, to a 9 year old in the non-internet era, yours might as well be that Corvette.
