Not sure if there is something wrong with my gears...

I noticed when the car is cold its fairly hard to put the car in 2nd while moving. If I'm stopped there is no problem. Its almost like there is something in the way. Any ideas?

Switching into 2nd gets easier as the car warms up but its never perfect.

If I shift into 2nd when stopped its fine.
Its also fine if I am lazily shifting from 1st to 2nd and kind of let it settle into neutral then pull it to the left and down..

I wonder if its possible that the spring is just a bit too tight.

I'll post everything in case something stands out...

My guess is you need to upgrade your your tranny's synchro's. Stock Tremec T-56 is sure to fail with that much power especially if you are shifting quickly. The rebuild is pretty standard.

i'm hoping its a linkage issue but the whole "it's ok if I shift REALLY slow" pretty much cements it for me... take it as a good chance to do a clutch for free labour!! (just trying to point out the positives)

You can go with a pre-built unit but really you only need a reputable shop to replace the blockers with carbon units, steel shift forks, inspect all the gears (mine had a bad second, fourth and reverse from the bad shift forks), brass wear pads and you should be good to go with whatever the 346 will make even with your current blower setup.

Ran into no problems yesterday... I concentrated more on pushing it left when going into second.

If I try to pull the 1-2 shift straight back like I do say for 3rd to 4th... it usually goes into 4th gear instead of 2nd... not sure if some springs are misaligned which is why I have to push so hard left to make the shift into second. Is this a corvette thing? I don't remember any other cars that I've drove where I needed to do this.

There is a feature called CAGS or 1-4 skip shift used to get around the gas guzzler tax but that should be disabled on your car
when it was tuned and the FI was added.
It only kicks in on little throttle when shifting out of first to second and makes you bypass into 4th, if you give it a bit more gas
and try again its defeated and then the solinoid does not kick in.

I feel you bro... it's not so bad really. If you were thinking of doing a clutch/flywheel, it's a freebie now. The rebuild kit itself i think is around $850 if you don't need a few gears but you can do the whole thing with the clutch and labour for a decent price. Especially through Manny I'm sure. It's definitely NOT a $5g touch or anything like that. I'd say in round-about numbers areound $3k +/- but your car will be a TON stronger for it.

I refuse to make a decision until I'm on a patio with a beer in my hand.
