Happy Canada Day to one and all out there but please take a moment to remember this is also Memorial Day in Newfoundland when we take time to remember the slaughter of the young men of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment at the Battle of the Somme; specifically Beaumont Hamel. In Newfoundland we have special permission to use the forget-me-not as the flower of remembrance instead of the poppy (they grow like weeds around my property).

What a day yesterday turned out to be. Great weather for the Memorial Day ceremonies in the morning, awesome afternoon with family and not a cloud or a breath of wind for the fireworks lat night Even made it back home without the usual coating of bugs and things on the front of the corvette!

The CBC did an awesome broadcast of the ceremonies from our National War Memorial. They really did us proud. If you get a chance check it out. The hosts explain why there is two National War Memorials in Canada.
