Well.... it turned out to be an interesting birthday this year.
Our original plan was to spend Friday Oct 5 in transit driving to Arizona for the winter in the Corvette. A foot of SNOW in Calgary on October 3rd and 4th shot that plan down and we went with plan B. Our son Nick, who is a pilot for Air Canada, booked us standby on a flight Friday morning to get away from the cold. Unfortunately at flight time there was only one seat left and I was not going to leave Wife at home. We went home and were going to try again the next day. A few hours before flight time on Saturday Nick called to say all the seats were full again.
Enough already!!!! Roads had cleared and the forecast was sunny for the next couple days. Loaded the Corvette and hit the road. It was interesting to see that the southern part of Calgary had almost no snow left on the ground so thr roads were all clear and dry. We did hit some rain and sleet north of Idaho falls where we spent the night of my Birthday. More rain through Salt Lake City on Sunday to Mesquite Nevada, then a nice sunny day Monday for the final leg of the trip to Tucson.
With wife happy in AZ and the Corvette safely in the garage it was a happy birthday after all.
