Brittany Force became only the second woman in NHRA history to win the Top Fuel Crown. She joins Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney in this very exclusive club. Muldowney won the title in 1982. Force secured her title by setting fast time and top speed then defeating Richie Compton in the quarter finals running a 3.67/328 to Compton's 3.75/323. She ended up winning the final round as a bonus. Well done.

Robert Hight drove his Camaro SS to take the Funny Car Championship. Hight ran a 3.89/332 to defeat Tim Wilkerson. Del Worsham took out title contender Ron Capps when he smoked the tires on the starting line.

All in all a great weekend for 16 time Funny Car champion John Force and his John Force Racing Team.

Have to say if you have never been to an NHRA National event add it to your bucket list. The experience is simply unreal.

Kewl...Good for her... and him. That must be an older file photo of her unless Castrol and Ford jumped back on board as sponsors... Cute girl too. I remember Shirley winning in 82... Lot of jaws dropped in the drag racing world.... Good post Murray.:Cheers2:

Eric, you are of course absolutely correct, should have made sure it was recent. My bad.

Shirley Muldowney….classy lady who worked her way up from stockers to Top Fuel and Funny Cars. Had her share of spectacular crashes (when you go that fast bad things happen in a big hurry) but she always came back.

No worry at all Murray. I'm pretty sure Castrol doesn't mind an old picture floating around.... especially after yesterday's ride....

Congrats to FORCE Racing.. That is a great accomplishment
She should be proud. And Dad should be proud too.
He was certainly overcome at the Start line when she took the crown..
I know he's 'dramatic' but he sure was proud and you could tell.

cool pics Murray..
Did you take some of those drag pics yourself? The autographed one of Shirley?

Wish I could take credit Graham but pros took those. If I could get that close security would be dragging me away.

Only saw her race once but she did race in Canada a fair bit, she is from Upstate New York. She had a huge crash at Sanair and another one at Deseronto with the Top Fuel car.

Congrats.....

I remember being at SEMA and some woman was 2 feet behind me ( we were waiting for an new car unavailing ) and she is talking and I am like she knows her s**t about drag racing.

When I finally moved I turned and looked and it was Courtney Force.

I met John at SEMA and he is funny.... he didn't have his cell ( they call them mobile ) and he asked if someone in the line could lend him their mobile..... said had to make a time sensitive call. he signed the guys phone.

Then after he yells to the crowd... got through to my probation officer in time! We all laughed.

I have a new 10-15 year old Force racing jacket signed by him... never have worn it.

My buddy was backing up once to take a photo... bumps into someone and looks... it was Carroll Shelby LOL
