Cost? Need to be installed by dealer? Interesting.

Finally! This should have been available on day 1.

Guessing this puppy will set you back $2K as a retrofit.

Is it just me, or does the engine cover look like it should be mounted backwards, so that the lines flow from front to back aerodynamically. Not the way it is installed in the pics. Guessing it is that way on all the coupes, but just noticed.

Also, for those who like picnics, you can fry up bacon and eggs on that high heat glass. Added bonus.

its will only be visible when the tonneau cover is open in service mode
tonneau cover itself will not have a window

why not just buy a aftermarket completely clear one for $600 USD?
The GM version still has insulation under it, and is apparently a double pane (with an air gap) window. That tells me GM is still concerned about the effects of heat on the roof over time. The aftermarket plastic cover has no insulation at all.

As for cost, I think $2000 is way too high. The existing cover is about $500 US, and I'd guess this one maybe $200 more. And if you can use a screwdriver, you can install it yourself.

It's definitely better than totally covering the engine but, to be truthful, it's a pretty ugly solution. I'm guessing you'll be seeing dressed up versions in the aftermarket pretty soon. I do like the totally clear one and there have been no reported issues with them but I still worry a bit about the long term effect of heat. I suppose time will tell...

As a coupe owner I just don't get it. I looked at my engine through the glass on the first day I got it and never looked again. I just don't find it that exciting to look at my plastic engine cover.
Me neither, but others do. I love showing off the car. :D
