Yesterday I dropped off 2 wheels and tires (not on the car) to get changed over for my C8. I didn't ask beforehand what the cost would be as I never paid more than $30/wheel installed and balanced. When I got the bill it was $181 for the 2 wheels. I questioned the price and was told this is because it is a Corvette. The Service Advisor said all Corvette service requires a "Corvette Specialist" even for tire install and Roadforce balance. Anyone else experience this Corvette service premium? Also while checking parts prices at the same GM dealer does not follow GM MSRP and increased the MSRP about 20%. The employee was not aware the parts were above GM MSRP and said that was not the price in their system and matching the price I already had was below their cost. I have never heard of a dealer charging above MSRP for parts. Is this now common?

I had my C8 OEM rims swapped out for aftermarket at a local Edmonton tire shop (not GM dealer) and was charged the usual rate he charges for everyone else: $200. The tire shop I normally use quoted me $300 saying the high performance tires and rims required ++ more time/attention. The place who did the work said that was BS when giving me their quote, so my usual tire shop has now lost my business.

And I've never been quoted more than MSRP for Corvette GM parts/accessories. I like to use an authorized Alberta GM wholesaler business which sells on-line and usually gives about a 25% discount to MSRP. They'll also ship out for a reasonable fee and I know others from Ontario have purchased from them so I'd suggest you check them out or see if you can find the equivalent in Ontario to save on ship costs. The business based in Red Deer, Alberta is: BuyKippScottGMParts.ca. Hope this helps out and good luck!

Yes it’s a Corvette. Likewise a Cadillac. They figure out people owning luxury vehicles should be charged luxury price. Wait until you have to replace or fix parts. Surprise!!!$$$ plus we’re waiting for parts as simple as a gasket. 😳😤

MGM (Go Auto) for my Ford diesel and my wife's Lincoln MKX and Pike Wheaton (Red Deer only as I have heard stories about some other Wheaton dealerships) for my Vette and my Sierra hunting truck. Have had great service out of both. I don't see luxury pricing at all for my Vette although I haven't had anything done to it besides oil changes but I supply my oil and they do the rest and charge me $45.00. I think that's pretty reasonable. Have been dealing with MGM for 30 plus years now and they have never disappointed me either. Hopefully I'm not jinxing that.. lol...

Don't mechanics have to post their hourly rate for customers to see? I think that would apply to dealerships. If they charge $100/hour then applies to all vehicles, unless stated otherwise, prior to servicing the car.

I ordered and had installed by my GM dealer (2 yr. ago) OEM parts and they gave me 20% off. Body shop installed because labor charge was a fair bit less. Where do you check cost of OEM parts? GM Canada website, I guess eh? I had a tire repaired (nail in rear) at my local tire shop and they charged me $55.00 - and I gave a $5.00 tip because he fit me in and was very careful removing the tire etc. I think their prices have gone up a bit since CV?
