after 9 years of trouble free driving i decided to replace my 07 tundra 4x4. the double cab long box was a little too big for my needs now. the residual value on trade was quite good at 12,500. with an additional 2,000 off the new purchase price for paying cash, it was a very attractive deal. the new truck is a 2016 tundra regular cab long box 4x4. the 5.7 will do a nice job of hauling the racecar - 381 hp and 401 lb ft torque. 6 speed auto, 4.30 posi diff with a massive 10.5" crown gear full towing package including brake controller and back up camera. the 07 did everything i wanted it to with no complaints but the shorter truck with the additional power is what i need now.

Doug you racing with it or hauling with it?

Sounds like a nice truck and certainly a good deal on the trade in of the 07. Well done. Did you hit them up for a sponsorship?

...hate to sound negative but you're the first man I heard of that has had good luck with that truck. Not many sold around here but the few I know who had them could not say much good about them and got rid of them quick. Very poor gas milage, long waits for parts and just poor dealer service. Hope your new truck meets expectations, it does sound impressive.

dunno who you're hearing this from but it's 180 degrees away from my experience. every tundra owner i see i have asked how they like their truck. not one negative comment over the last nine years. i have never had a bad experience with service and the only time it was in was for regular maintenance and a couple of brake jobs, i can't say the same about the chevs and fords i've owned.

I believe you buckhorn76, as you know there are lemons no matter what name is on the tailgate. Maybe it's our climate here or what ? but you just don't see them here and there are more trucks on the road than cars here. It was actually one of my relatives who had a new one about 5 years ago and babied it but had to get rid of it cause it was just junk. It burned more gas than a 52 Buick and just had constant problems. A retired school teacher had the only other one I knew of and same thing, if it wasn't the water pump then it was something else and wait and wait to get parts. Never seen a farmer have one , GM , Dodge and Ford is that order is what runs out here in ag country and probably 1/2 are diesels.. The cars seem ok, we even just bought our parish priest a new toy and so far so good . No matter what brand I always tell guys get as much warranty as you can cause they all break and are expensive to fix these days. I like the fact you got a 8 foot box, to me that is a truck when you can throw a sheet of plywood in there and close the end gate. That's alot of horses too, should pull the car trailer fairly easy. My dad has a 2001 gmc with the 5.3 that is great on gas, goes like crazy empty but when I hooked my old car trailer onto it the 5.3 tongue kinda hangs out, it can't pull like my 80 GMC 1/2 4x4 with the 350 4bbl. Guess I'll always be old school.

If Saskatchewan is anything like here (which i'm thinking it may be), XF is right. We don't see a lot of Japanese full size trucks here. But that typically (at least in Alberta, has more to do with the die hard farmers and R/N's around here than the quality of vehicle. .... I'm not criticizing anyone XF. I have a Ford diesel sitting in my garage as well.
