I posted this in the C6 section before I realized I should have posted it here.

Has there ever been a petition to do away with front license plates in Ontario? If we can get organized with all the Corvette clubs and forums we may be able to get enough signatures to convince the MOT that front plates aren't needed. This is an election year in Ontario so we would have a better chance to convince them to do this. I don't know if this has ever been tried in Ontario but if we can get organized it might be worth a shot. Anybody have any ideas?

Apparently Maryland is going to do away with them soon as well.

I'd sign a petition in a heartbeat.......

We have several provinces and territories that don't require front plates:

Alberta, Quebec, Northwest Territories, Prince Edward Island, Yukon Territory drivers need only a rear plate.

and New Brunswick has a seasonal plate that one can purchase, then a front plate is not required. Lot's of classic and sports car use this option.

Saskatchewan doesn't require front plates either. :D

It's actually funny, but I was running without a front plate and got pulled over when we did require two plates. The officer stated that front plates are important in situations where a vehicle leaves the scene of a accident. People can see the plate as the car drives away (?????), or the plate comes off and stays at the scene. He stated Saskatchewan would never get rid of the front plates. This was about 6 months before SGI made the announcement. :D

Once it is found that they can make more money by charging the same amount of money while only issuing one plate, they will make the change as well.

Had my corvette for 5 years, never ran a front plate. No issues with the law

You have been lucky then ... Got my car last Dec. (before we had any snow) I took it out twice , and got stopped twice ! Luckily no ticket either time, but decided not to press my luck .

Yeah I went plate-less on the front of my GS for a short time but figured if the cops stopped me for something else that they'd tack on the plate offense too.
So, much as A I didn't want to, on she went.

might have something to do with plate visibility when trailer towing ?
I think ya got it .I see no purpose as ya can't see it with the plow on anyway .

The front plate is required in Maine but I have never been dinged in 40 years .Now we have a state inspection that requires the front plate so I duct tape it on for the 10 minute inspection :D

Interestingly enough New Hampshire law say's a front plate must be attached (but not visible ) so on my C5 it was under the cover .Amazing

I really don't get the front plate thingy? we here in Alberta have it made apparently, no front plates to ruin the looks of our C7's

A friend got dinged a few years ago for about $135 for an improper front plate on his Corvette. I wasn't long getting my "Factory Muscle" plate off my Chevelle. On the C6 and now the C7, there is no place for the plate that doesn't spoil the look of the front of the car. I'd sign a petition in a heart beat. It wouldn't hurt to send e-mails to Your MPP as well. They get enough flack and they might actually do something. Pointing out the cost of the extra plate might be the best route.

LOL, aren't these dang things made by the inmates at the pen.? Perhaps they just want to keep them busy instead of retraining them.:D

Don't you just love inconsistencies from province to province. Silly.

I remember this going around years ago and it was explained to me that the MTO tried to get rid of it but Polices forces had the last say
I heard RCMP and OPP were both dead against it,, think also something to do with a Police association was also against it

what we need is a survey showing that the reduced aerodynamics increases drag and causes reduced fuel efficiency therefore creating increased emissions so the front plate is actually harmful to the environment
