I just realized that there really isn't any place to put a plate on the front of my car. I really don't want to start drilling holes to mount one but I do know that if stopped by police, it is a fine and 2 demerit points so I am told. Anyone have any ideas for mounting a plate on a C6 ZR1?

I hear you Terry -- and have a sturdy, removable plate frame which is mounted to existing hardware underneath. The one I have is offset to the driver's side and mounts down low to not detract from aesthetics and air flow.

Actually Manny has some info on this and has just ordered one for me. I'm sure he'd be glad to share that info with you and as soon as mine is re-installed I can post some pics for you.
If memory serves it was in the $175 range.

Found some I had already --

I ended up buying one of those remote controlled flip up plate holders that mounts from underneath so the holes
are out of sight. These things are rather flimsy and you had better learn to back into parking spots because one
run up onto a curb and it will be toast. Other than that it seems to do the job just fine. The previous owners had
never run a front plate and, like you, I wasn't about to drill holes in the upper part of the facia to mount the plate
holder.

There are also front plate brackets that can be held on with 2 sided tape, but if I had to run a plate, I would go with the show & Go
IMO, a front plate on a C6 just does not look right, bordering Fugly

I'm so glad that New Brunswick, somehow, found a way of appeasing the sports car owners, by coming up with a Seasonal Plate which only requires to run a back plate. the downside, plate is only good from April 1 - Oct 31, but most vette owners never run their cars outside these parameters anyway, so it works.

Like the 'Show-and-Go' but was trying to avoid the electronics and wanted something off to the side which the unit I had accommodated. I can't find the listing yet but pretty sure Manny has it since he ordered a replacement for me.

It's a frame that mounts underneath on the right side (as pictured) to which the plate can be slid and locked into for driving and can be removed for showing leaving nothing visible.

I'll post a pic as soon as I can find a listing.

If anyone is interested I bought a show and go front plate holder , the manual one that folds down for my 08 coupe and never used it. 20 bucks and you can have it. Brand new still in box

Cool, Z51 -- Is that meant for center mount or can it be mounted anywhere across the front? (I see that it's for the C6 coupe, so probably will not fit Z-cars or GS?????)

Mad Max did you fabricate the bracket or buy it? Send a pic of just the bracket or name of the vendor if you get a moment please. Thx.

No, I bought L-shaped brackets from Home Depot and drilled some holes to allow for the licence plate screws to go through, as well as got some plastic "thingies" to put the screws through at the back of the bracket. Used double sided tape to stick the brackets to the under side of the bumper. It was very easy...

Looked something like this:

Simpson Strong-Tie | Z-Max 2 Inch x 3 Inch Angle                   | Home Depot Canada

I went with the same Home Depot brackets.
I have a Grand Sport and I fit the bracket between the splitter and the front bumper.
Once the screws to hold the splitter up are tightened the bracket is tight and secure.
I did have to attach the plate to brackets first before screwing in the bracket between the splitter and bumper.
Only the bottom two holes in the license plate are bolted to the brackets.
No drilling required on the car but I did alter the 2 brackets a bit by drilling a hole in each so the license plate lined up.
I'll attach a pic in the next day or two.
The holes don't line up to allow you to centre the plate so I put the plate on the passenger side.
I'm pretty happy with the results for under $10.
