Good morning,
I would like to tap the collective Corvette genius and knowledge base here.

I have found perhaps my DREAM CAR but I want some opinions on the cost etc... price $29,500

- C6 - RED 2008 Coupe
- 78k KM
- Two roofs - clear and color
- The owner will put on NEW brand NEW 4 Michelin AS3+ tires
- Change the oil mobile 1
- 4 wheel aligment
- Car cover
- batter tender
- Car is LT1 or LT2 trim -- it has HUD no NAV
- Red with black leather. paint is 9.5/10 interion also super excellent.
- wheel are chrome no marks very nice
- single original owner since new bought new
- maintained very well.
- no 3m on the paint etc..

Sound reasonable?

Regards
Charles

Seems high for an low optioned 08. Maybe with 20,000 km. Tires are 2500-3000. Not saying it’s not a great condition well cared for car as it likely is, but I would pass and get the one you want with HUD and higher options.
JMHO

Thank you both for your excellent comments. "for Ontario??" -- does this mean price perhaps is not reasonable elsewhere? Could you perhaps elaborate my friend?

Regards,
Charles

Yes and the car is a 3LT -- I have seen the spec sheet it is literally what I want down to a Tee -- if had to super nit-pik I would like OEM NAV -- as I like to see it on the HUD !!

Hey there,

ask the seller what his/her bottom line is first. that may make a big difference as to if it's a good deal or not.

If it's what you're looking for, then pull the trigger and grab it. Obviously make a lower, reasonable offer before settling on a price, but like mentioned it is an '08 and they do command a bit more $, just like the '01-04 C5 vs the earlier ones, like mine. I believe the C6 issue in the earlier ones may have been transmission related, but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can probably correct me on that.

There are better out there with less Km's. Tires on that car are also not as expensive as shoeing a Z06 it's a base sized tire. Quick glance yielded this for one example

sit the owner down and tell him you will take good care of it just like he did

tell him to please come down to what he feels is ok for him and you will give him an answer within 24 hours,

tell him to please do the best he can as you would like to buy it even though you have seen others comparable for less but a one owner would be nice to own

then if he does not come down order steak and lobster and stick him with the bill

SERIOUSLY BE NICE AND SEE WHERE IT GOES

So many good comments in here (except your first one Derek, haha :P). The price you are willing to pay for the car of your dreams is up to you. I personally think that is a pretty average and reasonable price for the car based on description without actually seeing it. Certainly take into consideration that you can make a lesser offer and see what he says.

The mileage may be a negotiating point as expressed by some other members. I wouldn't be concerned about it as it is still low for that powertrain, and the older a car gets with fewer miles, the more likely it is going to have leaky gaskets and other problems. However, if it saves you a couple thousand dollars to complain about the mileage, then go for it.

Be like Jeffy, and tell him a story. I have wanted one of these cars all my life and blah, blah, I have $27k in the bank and can pay outright. I'd say I have $26,773 but you can have it all for that car.

I don't know what kind of negotiation powers you might have. When I bought mine, I gave him $500 cash and took pictures of the car including the VIN, and we wrote up a conditional bill of sale that included both our names and signatures, and I told him that I would need a few days to get him a certified cheque to finalize things. The car stayed at his house until I had the cheque in hand, and we met at the bank where the funds could be confirmed as legit.

I'm assuming that you don't need to get financing, or know that you won't have a problem if you do. Putting down cash is an excellent way of showing that you are serious, but take pictures (including VIN) and have a document with both of your signatures on it to say there is a deal in place.

Well we will all bow down to you and your Infinite wisdom then. Next time I’ll save the time and effort and just wait for you to let us all know what my opinion is. 😂

Thanks for backing me up, buddy.

One of my favorite lines is, "If I wanted your opinion, I'd have given it to you."

Bring some sunshine with you when you return. When are you back?

It's hovering right around the going price. Miles are a bit high so it's towards the upper end in price. Would suggest a carfax if you are serious. Also would recommend a mechanical inspection. Spending $300.00 dollars now could be worth a lot later on. The comment someone made about Ontario prices is just that. Cars in Alberta sell cheaper whether used or new. Especially now when only a chosen few here have any money....Lol...

Thank you for the excellent advice, I agree completely. I have seen the car in pictures, many of them. Unfortunately the car is technically not located where I am, it is significantly far from me, and I have to fly out there to purchase it.

Thank you for explaining the nuances of Alberta vs. Ontario car buying.

Regards,
Charles
