Went shopping to Home Depot today looking for a couple of fluorescent tubes for my garage. Found the department and saw the price of $6.98 for one tube.

I thought that sounded a bit high so I looked further. Found the section with boxes of tubes -- What a surprise that a box of 10 (40") cost $16.98!!!!!!

2 would have cost me $14. -- 10 cost me $17. What the hell is that all about?

I checked the prices when leaving and sure enough single bulbs are $6.98.

Unfreakin' believable.

You know Colin you have to stop wearing your tux when you go out shopping. They see you coming all dressed up and jack up the prices.

That is a huge difference in price and quantity so thanks for the heads up.

Being frugal (as opposed to cheap), this is a great wake up call when we go shopping for anything. Have many times looked to see what gram per gram an item cost when looking at different sizes of the exact same item. But have never seen a difference as you have. Obviously (hopefully) you bought the box of ten bulbs.

These places make their money on people who don't shop around and price things out. Most people just walk in, buy what they want and leave. The result is..............huge profits while advertising all the super deals. It happens all the time.

I wish it worked like that on HP. 140 hp costs $25,000 but you can get 300 more hp for only $5000 more! :D
