Car
2010 Corvette Conv
So I finally took my car out for a very short run yesterday. It was around 10 and Sunny here in Toronto. I put on a total of 3 kms!! The car ran perfectly however the cold tires and road temp , I believe made for a harder ride than I had expected. Mind you I have never driven a car with run flats either.
I think I'll wait til April for my next drive.
Some wrote earlier about the smile on my face owning and driving a Corvette, you were right! Couldn't be happier .
I have one question about the little black box attached to the passenger side of the windshield, behind the visor. What is it? Is it the Xm satellite receiver or antennae?

Surveillance my friend. Slowly pull the drapes back. Is there a black truck with tinted windows just down the block?:peeking:

No idea but it sounds like the first drive was memorable for you and that is good.

My C5Z rides rough when cold and rides rough when hot. I think they are just tightly sprung with tires that are unforgiving to bumps. Just a trait of the cars I think. You will get used to it or if you are really unhappy with it I can take it off your hands.

Oh No.... Murray is almost correct Bowling. Your car has at one time been involved in an extremely high speed chase. After being apprehended at 260 kph or over, the police will install a tracker box in the vehicle. If the vehicle ever exceeds the speed limit by more than 40 kph after that, it sends a signal to a central database and the car is impounded and the registered owner receives a fine. Luckily they cannot take your license as they cannot prove who may have been driving it. Too bad.... really limits the odd time you want to punch it to pass someone. And with that Bowling I have to tell the truth. It's your on-star relay..... But my story had you going I hope...lol...:p

Oh yes it did Rruuff! Great story ! Hahaha!
Thank you for that . When I drove it yesterday , I was so careful! Like walking on egg shells. There was one other car on the road that was clean , a fairly new model "Bright Yellow" Camaro!
I have seen too many pics and vids of wiped out cars , getting to hard into the pedal .
I was pretty scared of the power of this car.

Bowling.. you are no longer a Corvette Virgin..
You are now a Corvette guy. There is no going back now.

I've owned my '75 for 35+ years and it honestly still puts a grin on my face.

lol.... glad i got a rise out of you... Yes... these cars have some power but if you pay attention, you will be fine.... Ideally, find a desertet parking lot somewhere when NO ONE is around, shut the traction control off and experiment some. The fellow I bought my C6 from told me that he wanted just once to jump on it and make those tires hum.... he shut the TC off, pounded the pedal, dumped the clutch and he said by the time he backed out of it he was facing directions he did not want to face... lol... so yes... caution is advised but the car won't do that by itself... you have to push it... If the pavement is dry and it's not 0 degrees out, It won't break free unless you let the reins out... or do something really really stupid.... You will get to know the car really quick Bowling... and yes.... the smile.... enjoy...

Good to hear Graham !
It's been a long time for me.
At 15 I wanted a C3 .couldnt afford one , my first car was a 72 Chevelle.
Then got married and family car syndrome took over, never stopped dreaming!
Finally at 58 , I pulled the trigger on the C6!
I might still look out for a nice C3 .
Love Corvettes through and through, yours , mine and everyone else that owns one!
I have ordered my Build sheet and Window Sticker and 2010 Sales brochure from the National Corvette Museum !
$130 Canadian , can't wait to get them !
Also on order , the 2010 set of four Shop Manuals from Helm inc.
Do you think I'm going just a little nuts?!

Bowling..
In the Corvette world what you have done is not NUTS!!
You can go WAYYY deeper and some do.
Welcome to the lifestyle. It has just begun!
LOL
The Factory shop manuals are costly but they are the best.
I get them for all my cars.

Hey Bowling ... enjoy that fine ride ... find somewhere to "play" safe while you check it all out !
You'll always be grinning because it's yours to decide when to drive it like you stole it ! Well kinda-sorta.
All while keeping the option in mind of not having to impress anyone other than yourself ... because they can just all get their own !
You will always be cool even when just cruising ... :Cheers2:
Oh ya ... the Corvette Museum Shop has got a "donation" from me a couple of times too ... so cool to have that there.
You check out the 2019 National Corvette Caravan that is planned to the Museum? Now how cool would that be !

Thank you SN 3! You hit the nail on the head. I can run the car hard for me at the right time. There is no impressing anyone , no need too.
I apreciate your comments and this forum .
Yes Bowling Green is on my places to visit list.
I might tie it into this years trip to Carlisle.

Bowling, there are a group of folks headed for BG and a factory tour on Memorial Day weekend. See a post by walleyejack about two weeks ago. They are going to Memphis after for a night on the town.
