Featuring Featured Threads errr Feature

Hot on the heels of today's updates we will in the next day or two be launching Featured threads.

The concept is to automatically and occasionally manually surface threads, pictures and posts that you may have missed up above everything else on the home page. This would include media of the month posts and hot topics, and the like.

The top part of the page that is currently occupied with a pic and the gentle reminder of your name will be replaced with a few of these new threads.

Rather than attempt to describe this I'll let you be the judge tomorrow when I hopefully have the time to put this in.

Hi CCF Members,

As threatened yesterday, we're rolling out our featured threads functionality.

Just to give you a brief synopsis, it's basically a hopefully useful way of surfacing trending threads and/or important announcements within the forum home as well as within each sub-forum.

You will see a couple of new options up top (Featured Threads and Featured Threads archive) in the sub-navigation bar. Those are dedicated pages that can feature up to 20 threads and archived featured threads.

The threads are currently featured automatically based on popularity criteria up to a maximum of 4 on the forum pages and 20 on the dedicated Featured Threads page. Expect some fine tuning of the criteria over the next little while.

Mods can also manually feature and unfeature a thread.

The layouts may change in future but the functionality should remain. Hopefully this will be useful to some of you.

The Featured Threads page/portal may eventually replace our homepage but that functionality is currently still being trialed.
