I Need My Buddy Graham…Service Active Handling

    Black 03 Z06, Jun 26, 2017 at 7:18 PM, C5 Forum
On our little adventure today I ran into some issues with the car. One odd thing is the manual passenger seat will not lock into position. Last year it got stuck at one point, freed it up and thought all was fine but now it will not stay in place. Any thoughts?

Second issue maybe more serious is the dreaded message "Service Vehicle Soon" "Service Active Handling" flashed up on the way home. On the way over I had run over some rumble strip but that may have been a coincidence, maybe not. I stopped part way home, shut the car off, took the key out waited a couple of minutes and started the car up again. Ran fine, it did all day, no message. About 20 kms later it flashed up. Another thing is that I don't think it show the "active handling warming up" this morning when we left.

Graham posted the method for checking the codes in a thread some time ago but I cannot find out how to do it. Short or shot memory, one or the other.

Any thought would be appreciated. Graham are...

    All Detailed & I'm Impressed

    Dub, Jun 22, 2017 at 12:58 PM, Detailing/Car Care
So my awesome wife and I enjoy detailing our vehicles, and as I've mentioned a few times, I like to try new/different products to try, and different combinations of these products, to see which gives us the best results. I've used a lot of the big names out there by way of online shopping, as well as some of the brands that can be purchased locally at Cdn Tire and such.
Anyway, this is the latest combination we tried, along with some pictures:

Please let me know what you all think. And keep in mind, this car was always kept clean by the previous owner, but did not take the time to clay bar, compound, polish, wax, etc. so the car had several flaws, such as major swirl marks, minor swirl marks, light and deep scratches, and a couple very un-noticeable paint flaws from the factory. We were able to correct 90% of all the flaws but have a bit to do yet.

Hello...and what to do when the shifter doesn't shift?

Valley Vette, Jun 21, 2017 at 7:48 PM, C5 Forum
First off, let me introduce myseft to the C5 Forum since I've previously only darkened the halls of the C3 gang! I'm retired military now living in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. My wife and I purchased a '75 L-82 Coupe back in 2011 which we sold this month after we found a '04 Coupe that gave us a few more creature comforts! Did I mention I am now retired... You get my drift I'm sure.

So that leads me to today. I've had the '04 out about a half dozen times, including a day-cruise with the Nova Scotia Corvette Club, and when I backed into the garage this evening and shifted to drive (automatic transmission) the shifter moved without any resistance (my first clue) and I could still see the reflection of the back-up lights (second clue) behind the car. I moved the shifter full spectrum several times and did manage to get the transmission into park; and that where it sits now.

I'm not a technical guy, however my first guess is the whatever connects the shifter atop the tunnel...

HELP V.A.T. key stuck in ignition in run position

    Steve Fontaine, Jun 20, 2017, C4 Forum
PROBLEM WITH 89 C4 CORVETTE LOCK CYLINDER

So yesterday i was driving to superstore and after parking the Vette, I couldnt turn the key to turn it off. After a massive panic episode i drove to the warehouse by my works main office looking for help from the warehouse guys. After a lot of hassle they got the key out. We decided to try the second set of keys just to see if there is any difference. It only made things worse. Now the key is jammed in the run position and we had to disconnect the battery to turn it off. Now the Vette is sitting at the warehouse with the key stuck in the ignition. but at least its locked and has a club on the steering wheel. i need to get it out of there ASAP.

I called a locksmith and he said it would be a 4 hour job and run $700 to change the cylinder and make new keys. I called B.S. and did some research. I found this place Corvette Parts & Accessories from Mid...

I put my 2015 Stingray in the Morinville car show yesterday and took a pleasantly suprising win in the 80's and newer class. Met some more great car guys and gals also. This is the first time I had ever won in a show. Great prizes too, Yippie!

    Dog's and Vettes

    turbozig, Jun 18, 2017, Off-Topic
I know many of us OCD Corvette owners have beautiful 4 legged friends that we are very attached to and love as much as our 4 wheeled toys. I thought that I would be the first to show my best buddy Roxy, beside my ride in my shop. She is a Border Collie, Husky and Lab mix rescue dog from SCARS, and an absoulute sweetie. She has one totally blue eye, and the other is dark brown with about a sixth of a pie chunk of blue. Let's see your pals!

Need some help guys, yesterday went out for a drive. when we were coming home some one in front of us pulled over and got me to stop. they told me my DRL were going on and off. Can anybody tell me where the ground is for that front harness? I am going to clean all the contacts for the bulbs, to see if that helps.

    Fathers Day Car Show Pictures

    Riley P, Jun 17, 2017, 306
Finishing of some site work in the Nipawin area, I headed back home. Driving through Melfort (population 6,000), I saw some streets were closed....and cars! I quickly pulled over and found a spot to park so I could check out the show. The Main Street of Melfort is quite a nice setting. There was a good mix of vehicles there.

Here are the pics of the odd and interesting spectrum of vehicles there.

The next two cars, I can appreciate the workmanship??? I like the idea that they are pushing the trends, but seriously, all I can think is, 'nope'.

    Favorite Hot Weather Beverage

    Black 03 Z06, Jun 17, 2017, Off-Topic
Now that the warm weather has hit Canada and summer is just days away I was wonder what your favourite beverage is to cool off on a warm day. Assuming no driving of any type of vehicle is involved.

I really like Vodka with lots of ice, squeeze of lime with tonic water to cool off.

Sparking wine seems to work no matter what the season.

Does not have to contain alcohol for certain. So what do you enjoy to quench that thirst?:Cheers2:

Potential locations for a Mid September Cruise.

    MikeysZ06, Jun 16, 2017, 403/780
I had mentioned to Spence (without an R) last week about potential locations for a mid Sept cruise pending interest. I had come up with a few ideas and would like to share them with you guys.

As you all know and many have seen the Upper Kananaskis Lake is very pretty. The fall colours are in full glory in Sept and it's only an hour and a half from Calgary. There are 2 other lots there as well but this is the only one with a water view. My concern there though is the hiker traffic that is out there on weekends. The parking lot is a major trailhead for a dozen hiking / backpacking trails so chances are good it could be fairly busy. But,being after Labor Day weekend,it could be hit or miss too. As well,if any of the Red Deer and points north guys came down to see us,the Stoney Nakoda resort is quite reasonable after Sept long. As well, they have a massive parking lot and a really good weekend All you can eat buffet and indoor pool. As well,a continuation from the lake on southwards...

The highest paved road in Canada. I'm here.

IMG_1047.JPG Safe to say that at this moment,my Corvette is the highest in Canada. There are no other paved roads in this country higher in elevation than where I'm at right now. Nothing.... nothing whatsoever. Look it up !!
That's the outlier of Storm Mountain above my car. She's over 10,000 feet ASL.

The guy who owns the bike and took the pic is riding from Canmore to Sparwood.
