I was wondering what it was like for the people that put desposits on a C8 and how quick and easy the refund process was? I put down a deposit at Bill Spencer March 2022 (with the assurance that I can get it back if my original dealership came through with my order quicker) but my original dealership did come through quicker. I asked for a refund Jan 2024, and I was told sure no problem. Didn't get it and it slipped my mind. Realized that I actually didn't after looking at my bank statements.

I reached out a couple times now this month and I got back the same, sure sure we'll do it. And it's been 2 weeks of that... is this normal? Should I be worried?

I’m sure you have a receipt from the deposit in some form. You would think they would have given you the refund day one. Simple transfer. I would go knock on their door first opportunity. Good luck. If the problem persists perhaps consider letting the members know who you are dealing with……

I had a deposit with Brian Cullen a couple years ago for a Z06. A few months later, I decided I didn't need it (I already had a C8) and called to cancel. It took a few weeks and a reminder to get the $ back.

Lots of businesses only generate checks twice a month. 15th and 30th and it would take a week or so for a check requisition to be processed through their internal system. That being said I would formalize my refund request by finding out the name and email of the General Manager and dropping her/him an email and asking if they would also let you know as to when you might expect the funds. They are a highly reputable dealer so I wouldn't worry about getting your $$.

I would not accept that as an explanation. When I sold my 2021 C8 to Spencers a deal was made via email on a Tuesday and 2 drivers showed the next morning at 10am in Lindsay with a certified chq. to pick up the car.

Nothing to worry about at all ... if they dick you around more than twice... reputable dealer or not ... dont contact them again and just put a stop payment with your credit card provider ... even though it was some time ago you havent received anything and they are not holding up to the agreement ... I bank with TD and have a first class travel Visa and have processed a stop payment on 2 different occasions ...
TD stood firm behind me on both occasions and I got my cash back from Visa . I know TD Visa stands behind their card holders 100%
Most CC companies side with their card holders as opposed to businesses ... ;)

Of course this is assuming you placed the deposit by CC ...

Girl thumbs up Stock Photos, Royalty ...

If the deposit was left electronically they just reverse it.
Checks are pretty much ancient history.

That being said I had a similar experience when it came to a very slow return of my deposit. I called and asked for it back but saw nothing after about 3-4 weeks. That sparked my 2nd call. First issue was they had trouble finding my file. I told them where to find it. Nothing happened, I called again. Nothing happened. Spoke to the salesman who called me for my allocation. He said he was away and would take the file to the manager. Nothing happened. Called again and left a message. I told the manager where the file would be but evidently that was too easy. I walked into the dealership in person after about 1.5 months. They were in a sales meeting. A salesman came out to chat, same words again, same where to find it again. They couldn't find my file. No luck, as I drove home a salesperson called to tell me they found it. I drove back and they credited my card.

The lesson from all this. They are far quicker to take your money than they are to return it.

Those deposits are no doubt in an interest bearing account……the longer it’s in there……
