Has anyone installed an engine immobilizer? CAA insurance charges me a $1500 annual surcharge on my policy, which I can have removed by installing one of these units - Ghost II, IGLA, CAN-Phantom or Viper 3105V.
Do you know if these track the vehicle stats like; hard braking, hard acceleration, speed etc.? This could also be a tracking device for insurance to monitor your driving. What is the cost of these?Has anyone installed an engine immobilizer? Wow, you need to change insurance companies. I only pay about $1500 in total for a C8 in the Toronto area and I have full replacement cost coverage as well as coverage for a rental car if mine is being repaired from an accident and $1 million liability, $1000 deductible. I use Northbridge purchased through the broker NFP.Has anyone installed an engine immobilizer? Nope doesn’t track car info. Or record anything . Basically all it is, is a fancy kill switch that requires a PIN code , using whatever sequence of buttons you press in the car . Just renewed in July . So got to wait till next year for that. However, brokers are telling me more and more insurers are going to implement surcharges and want immobilizers installed-on high value / highly stolen vehicles.maybe time to look for a different insurance company?
With the immobilizer I would be paying the same for Hamilton . Hamilton sucks … always higher premiums . E.g TD wanted $2800.Wow, you need to change insurance companies. Not on a C8. Apparently it's integrated in the cars systems and cause complete failure of the vehicleAny thief worth his weight can hack and disable On Star in minutes....
