Engine Bay lighting mod

Question. Has anyone that has factory install engineer bay lights purchased the small wire harness to put between the two factory plugs ? So that you can run your lights with the rear window defroster button. If you have is it worth the $85.00 USD.

I bought battery lights that have remotes. The idea was to stick them in the rear hatch with velcro. They are still in the box. Couldn't be bothered.

Although they have to be recharged via usb-c they hold a charge a long time. How often do you open the engine cover? Work on motion and are magnetic. Quite bright as well and the price is right. Just a thought.......and they are on sale right now.
