Yes inevitable. I just want a North American (in spite of Trump) sports car, not a European knockoff.
Would have been interesting if they kept on making some C7 models to see which one the consumer wanted.
And as someone pointed out, if you need any engine work that baby is deep in body.

The long awaited mid engine C8 will cause great interest among many but will the price increase be worth it? I think the C7 would meet all my likes without the extra cost of owning a C8. Like most new models there will be bugs to iron out the first few years, if interested would rather wait a few years to invest in one.
 
Guess it depends on whether you want something pulling your A$$ down the road or something pushing your A$$ down the road.
Hope it would never happen to anyone (but $hit happens) but in an accident I might prefer to kiss the engine than have it rammed up my rear end. Can't tell as I have not experienced it and don't really want to either.
