Hi, all. After a couple weeks of struggle I seem to have concluded that my electric choke is operating completely backwards. In other words when the key is on and heat is applied to the choke cap spring it drives the choke plate closed instead of open! As a result I'm running around at temperature fully chocked and too rich. According to the manufacturer this is something they have never seen and if all else is correct it must be a factory flaw. Im no expert here so I could be somehow missing something......any thoughts?
Thanks
ps i moved this from another spot. sorry for double post

I do think the spring is backwards. Ive ordered a new cap. I also think maybe the linkage and the fast idle cam are messed up. Trying to find pic online but so far just cant find the right angle and same carb combination. I would love to find a schematic...

I would like to see a pictures of your choke sping, I did see, a long time ago, peoples who had remove the choke spring from the choke cover and reinstall it the wrong way and they had the same problem you seem to have. The choke spring is a bi-metalic spring that react to heat by twisting in one direction so if the sring is on the wronf side, you will have a problem. I checked on google for images of your carb and I think it is possible.

The picture 1 is showing the rod (gold tab) that is driven by the choke spring, I would like to see the spring inside the black cover, it should look like the one on this link.

If it look like this, remove it and flip it (like a coin), I wish my english was better, I am missing vocabulary to explain myself correctly. Just make sure you dont flip it upside down. good luck Stephane

Ok so 33$ later my new choke cap works just like the old one. So I took the assembly apart and switched the linkage arm to the choke flap over to the other side of the fast idle cam and hooked it into the cam. (i know its hard to picture.) Anyway, the choke operates as it should now....i just have to go back and reset everything else I messed with trying to figure this out.
