DTC Filter Change/Service

I know this topic has been discussed but I have a fairly specific question.

I bought a 2023 HTC used with 5,500km on it at the beginning of the summer. I am planning on taking the vehicle in this week for service (oil change, recalls etc) before I park it for the winter (and to take advantage of the second “free” oil change). I will also get the DTC service as I am at ~12,000km.

The dealership is telling me that the DTC change will not be covered ($930) as the DTC service “would have been done” when the car got its first oil change @ 5,000km last October - before I bought it. I don’t know if this was the case. Is there a way to tell or should I just accept this and suck up the cost?

That's BS. They should be able to look that up, but the service does NOT have to be done until 12000kms
 
Agreed, the GM Service Adviser should be able to look up any service done by them on your Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) in their system (if they want). That would indicate to me, to find another dealer.
 
Many dealers realize there is no need to have the DCT filter changed at the time of the first oil change and will allow that service to be done at the second oil change which is due at 12,000 km along with the DCT. Owners have 2 years to get this done.
I would check with another dealer.

This one has been discussed so many times now that it’s become semi confusing. I had been under the impression that as of MY 2024 that you had 3 years or 12,000 km to have the DCT service covered by GM . Is that in fact the case? Thanks.

Correct, but Harvey said his car is a 2023 HTC like mine. We are limited by the 2 year time frame unlike you with your 2024 car.

Not fair. But what is. Thanks for the clarification. They should have made it retroactive back to the 2022 model for the PR value if nothing else.

Thanks. I will try to determine if the service was done with the first oil change or not. Hopefully not.
 
GM has started sending this letter to negligent owners, way of voiding your warranty

This letter has gone out due to the number of people that have refused to do the DCT filter change at a cost of almost $900 going back to the 2020 model. Mine cost $862.77 to get done in May of 2021 and I have heard stories of C8 owners going into dealerships and not believing the filter needed to be done and leaving without doing it once the cost was mentioned. This letter gives GM the opportunity to deny warranty coverage on a $21,000 part plus a day and a half (minimum) labour to remove and replace the transmission. GM has already started denying transmission warranty claims due to negligence of owners and anyone on this forum and our lurkers have been thoroughly warned to get this service done ON TIME or say goodbye to your transmission warranty coverage.

Because this has been so horribly communicated and managed by GM, it's quite possible that the original owner and/or dealership thought that the free DCT service had to be done with the first oil change (and of course the dealer would be inclined to push for extra work whenever possible). But yeah, GM would have a record of it.

I got my first DCT filter changed at my first oil change ( 2024 Z06 ) 4000 km

DCT filter online price matched $160

1.5 hour labour since car was already on the hoist

$350 Total

I'll be using my free DCT and second oil change come spring ( 12 000 km ) as I have 10 000k right now

That's the right idea Gilles. I did mine while it was on a lift myself with the help of one other GM mechanic after my track day at 4500 km. Took us 40 minutes because I had already added the extra two liters of fluid the first day I had the car and didn't take the trunk apart to add the 6 oz I lost changing it.
I paid $200 for the filter before the latest price increase and was happy to see the filter was very clean at that point. I will be doing it again when I reach 12,000 km in the spring with the free service I still have with the car.
