Just received this from my brother:

I guess that's that. Ontario is going into Lockdown. At least the LCBO will stay open.

Had to happen. As of today hospitals in downtown Toronto are refusing any and all visitors including care givers. Suspect they have a plan in place to assist, so many broken people there it is troubling.

The list of "Essential Businesses" was just released.

Looks like car and truck dealerships are on the list of places to stay open.

6. Motor vehicle, auto-supply, auto and motor-vehicle-repair, including bicycle repair, aircraft repair, heavy equipment repair, watercraft/marine craft repairs, car and truck dealerships and related facilities;

I'm updating the title to match the news

Appears someone in the Provincial Government is expecting his C8

Since the list of what is open and running seems pretty long, here's a good list of what will be closed in Toronto:

  • All community centres and facilities providing recreational programs
  • All public libraries
  • All public and private schools
  • All licensed daycares and child care centres although some will re-open to help frontline workers
  • All bars, nightclubs, strip clubs, cafes and restaurants not offering take out or delivery
  • All theatres, cinemas and concert venues
  • All Toronto attractions
  • All gyms although many are doing classes on Instagram Live
  • All clothing stores
  • All nail and hair salons
  • All provincial parks
  • City Hall and all municipal buildings
  • Ontario casinos

At least the government is finally doing something although a little late. Like closing the barn door after the horse escaped. I still doubt that will keep people at home. So I can see further measures being taken if people still don't get the message.

I feel the Canadian governments have been tippy-toeing around people's freedoms and are hoping that we're smart enough to follow their advice without resorting to enforcement. The problem is, is that many people are not the brightest and are rather ignorant/stubborn. A case of the few ruining it for everyone else. It's eventually turning into a case of, "we're doing this to protect you."

The whole idea of closing all non-essential businesses and keeping essential ones open is so, if a person NEEDS something, they can get it. It doesn't mean that you should go out to your local dealership because you're bored and want to see what they've got. Stay home, only go out if you HAVE to, and go alone (unless you're going for a walk/hike/other outdoor recreational activity, but maintain that 6-foot distance).

Although I'm not privy to the data that the province hopefully has this move reeks of pomp and show. Europe and some states down south is busy slowing the spread by actually forcibly shutting down places people go it. We're busy shutting down wide open spaces at Provincial parks of all things and city property that's seldom used. Loss for words. Great messaging.

During regular times, they're seldom used, but with so many people staying home, caring for their children who are not in school, or home because they cannot go to work, there has been a huge spike in the number of visitors at parks and recreation centres.

The conservation areas and parks are still open for hikes, but there will be no staff on hand and any buildings will be closed.

Thats right EJChevy. People that ignore the advice are forcing us responsible people to stay in even longer. It's not fair to people who are doing their best to get this under control. But as usual bad people don't care about good people. I thought up a new slogan for the government if they want to use it.
6 feet apart or 6 feet under. Your choice. LOL.

Wouldn't matter Kerry.... Can't fix stupid no matter what you do or say, short of locking them all up... Wait a minute.... There's an answer... We need a few Alcatraz institutional Islands. No staff... Just parachute drop a couple lifts of groceries every week.... We'll come and get you when the virus is gone.... Maybe....

Canada needs a Gitmo. LOL.
