Does anyone know how the 25 % tariff is calculated on a new C8 coming into Canada ?
Little early for anyone, including governments, to actually speculate on a dollar figure for multiple thousands of items that will either be directly or indirectly affected. There are many intricacies that will apply to those items. As an example Canada supplies car parts to the US. What is the value of those parts as Canada's counter tariffs will certainly apply. Another factor will be manufacturers and what portion of the tariffs will they eat, just to continue selling their goods at a price people can still afford. Basically it's a wait and see world out there right now.

North American autos are probably the most complicated manufactured product for tariffs. Components can come from Canada, USA, Mexico, China, Vietnam, etc. Doors made by Magna in Ontario for Chevrolet can have components from multiple countries. Once assembled, the doors are shipped to the assembly plant in USA, Canada or Mexico. When do the tariffs apply? Are they applied on the final assembled part (e.g. door), on each individual component or the entire vehicle?

Let's hope the tariffs for the auto sector can be avoided.

From the Financial Post. Although I saw one opinion today saying that the increase could be as much as $9,000 on higher end vehicles. I would imagine a sliding scale depending on vehicle cost but it doesn’t appear that it would be anywhere near 25% on top of all prices.

If the tariff is added by the Trump govt, I won’t care how much it is! I won’t be ordering another Corvette or anything else for that matter from the USA.
Almost ordered a Porsche last time, perhaps that’s what it will be next time. Time will tell.
