Margaret's new Frontier is a breeze to park. You sit high, visibility is excellent, and the mirrors are for more than just show --

---and now my f/i must fix my d/side rear fender flare which nicked Margaret's nice shiny new bumper on Saturday.:swear:

Like many of you I try to be so careful and 'measure' anything I do in the garage and driveway, -- I've succeeded rather well -- until now.:(

Insurance claim? we'll see, Manny's shop (and Steve)? for sure.
I thought I could live with it but that scuff and crack at the lip sticks out like a sore thumb.

A relatively cheap lesson (I hope) -- In the grand scale of things it could be much worse.:)

Sorry to go off topic on you Ranger but it was a good opportunity for me to share this and it does have a lot to do with 'vette parking and backing up. (Perhaps more to do with inattentiveness).......

I have only had her out a few times, but I wanted to share my shame with you......Wow, feels good to get it off my chest
yes it does. :)

Cheers - from this week's F.U.

Collin. Sad to hear you dinged the car. Maybe instead of a supper charger you should have gotten Manny to put in one of those auto park thingys..... Sorry Collin, I just couldn't resist .

Thanks for sharing my pain guys -- It hurts -- but I'll survive -- after all is said an done it's only a freakin' car. One really shouldn't get too bent out of shape over such trivialities......:D (I can't believe I just said that about a corvette)

Keith, I pride myself of my driving abilities, especially backing up into and out of a double garage (not a twin, but a double) with my 2 nice cars. Believe me there's literally inches to spare on all sides and I've gotten pretty dang good at it over the last 29 years (in this house)
So having done this boo-boo I feel that my average isn't too darn bad. Seems to me it proves that we're only human ....

I've not 'burdened' my insurance company(s) much over my 50 years of driving so now it's time for them to step up. Thankfully I do have what my company calls "driving record protector" which means effectively that this claim never happened and that all I pay is my deductible. (well worth the $50 it cost to buy) -- apparently my rating will not change from the present 9-star.

No worries, Brian. You said no more than I would have said to you and I deserve all the ribbing I get over this  --

yes ironically I have the backup camera and warning system on the SHO which warns of such collisions. Alas not available on the 'vette (OEM) but certainly worth fitting aftermarket for sure.

Ranger, I'll have Riley cull this subject off into a new thread. I've almost obliterated yours for you and feel badly. Humble apologies.

Sorry to hear about the accident Colin, probably caused by attempting a burnout in the driveway... I can understand if you want to keep it quiet, I won't saw a word.

However for our own cars protection I have to ask that in addition to having your own SuperCharged seating area at Timmies... please park far away from ours

You guys are being mean to poor Colin ... :) I feel your pain Colin , I backed into my "new" car with my "new" motorhome and damaged them both ! That was a few years ago, but it's taken this long to forgive myself ! :(:swear:

Hey Jim, you've found the right place for consolation. Tho your incident is way back I'm sure they could come up with some kind of 'commiseration' for you...
Our buddies are best and I knew I could count on 'em.....

No compassion at all! You guys see a wound and fight to see who the first one is to grab the salt.

I'll have to keep my mouth shut if I ever make an oops! :D

FO?????

I believe it's short form for the old Germanic-English saying "Forever-Overboosten"

A pre-turn of the century phrase used by Gottlieb Daimler in his patent application for a supercharged engine. Gottlied at the time had embraced English, along with his English au pair girl and was turning to the Queens English at every possible opportunity.

however I could be wrong, my Germanic training at Oxford was a long time ago,and my memory isn't what it used to be.

You guys are really mean to Colin!!! Sorry to hear about you little crash Colin, but it sounds like maybe a whole new fender to me!!!!!!!

With all bolt on body panels, it's a breeze to replace one on these newer Corvettes. With the old steel bodied cars, the quarter panels were spot welded in place and the roof joints were leaded in. Not an easy replacement. Crap does happen to the best of us and I am far from the best and it still gets me.

Thanks Rob -- but I'm rather enjoying all the attention....Give us your best shot ..... :D

Ouch..sorry to hear this Colin. Just give it to the magical hands of Manny and she will be as good as new :)

Yeah Manny knows about it -- I'm hoping the insurance will foot the bill for a new fender and paint. which will be a cheaper job than repairing and repainting. We'll see what the estimate is tomorrow. I hope it's in line with what Manny can do the job for.

I've all but had the front panel off for splash guard fitting, and was amazed at how easily it came off.

Yeah things happen -- no biggie. One just grins and bares it.

I'm sure there are people who would gladly trade their problems for mine any day. :D

Thanks for listening guys......

Sorry to hear of your incident Colin. Hope you can get it fixed soon. :( At least no one was injured. Cars can be fixed.

Very true Greg -- Looks like it should be done in a couple or 3 weeks. I start the process tomorrow with I visit my insurance's collision center for an estimate. I'm not too worried about this really tho I do get a little disappointed with myself sometimes.

It's nice to know everyone cares (seriously) -- and I appreciate the concern.

Cheers
Colin.

Darn!

Sorry to hear Colin, not fun at all, but watching you and Wayne go at it , thats fun, havent laughed like this in a while. This past weekend went down to the get together at AMC, 400 and hwy 7. I departed with a group of high horsepower vettes , and when we hit the 400, and those guys opened up, i laughed like a kid seeing fireworks for the 1st time! the noise was incredible!!
Everyone was getting out of our way, what a sight, and it was just the noise from the cars...

:rofl: so that's what Brian meant when he referred to some "terrorizing" after the meet at AMC, when the guys hit the 400 --- lol, "bad boys, bad boys..........." Sounds like they hit warp speed PDQ.....
