I am curious if anyone here can share their own car delivery experience when you do finally get your new C8's. Conversely, can any of the dealership reps on this site provide an outline of what we can expect when getting the call to come get our cars? As its not like we are picking up a Chevy Malibu, how much time will we need for the initial orientation and will it be with a Vette Expert or just our salesman. I am planing on the spring mountain trip for sure but expect I will not see that until fall and will be driving the car since then. I am hoping that someone with far greater knowledge of the car can do a fairly thorough walk through. It would be interesting to know if any of the "Vette" centric Ontario dealers host any owner workshops for service orientation etc.

Seems like most of us on this forum know more about the C8 than our dealerships, I'm thinking we are just better off reading the owner's manual and all the other literature because from getting TPWs , understanding options, allocations process etc.. a lot of us have been disappointed by our sales reps. Exclude EJ from this statement!

I get the depth of the online pre delivery stuff. All looks good. So then picking up car will be fairly hands off? Typical user experience. No major dealer time needed. I would hope they have one guy that went down and drove the car and can maybe address drive characteristics.
I know what you mean about spending more time than you need to at the dealership. to change it up a bit, I had the salerep bring the vehicle to me last time, and review everything in the comfort of my own driveway. went smooth and would probably do it again under the right circumstances

If you are getting a Corvette from myself, expect it to be thorough. I ensure every paper signed is clearly understood what it is, and when going through the vehicle, I go over every little button and option. I'll even go through the settings and point out what I feel may be of value to the customer.

The longest delivery I've had with a C7 Corvette, actually being relatively simple vehicles, is 1.5 hours unless the customer was particularly chatty.

Your experience may vary if you have a different salesperson.

As a vette owner you would certainly have more insight I am sure. I guess I am looking for some good insight from a vette expert at the dealer and preferably one that went down on the two day orientation. Key for me is how to not mishandle in the early days. I want to break in correctly and also avoid driving errors in rain, etc.

Most dealerships don't have a Vette specialist. So it will likely be just a sales rep who doesn't know much more than you can figure out on your own.

I do not know if the Corvette training was available to Canadian dealerships. I never heard anything about it.

I'm thinking about Home Delivery, then driving my salesperson to the bus station with $8.25 in hand...
I hire a driver to pick me up. keep the cash brother.

To answer the OP, there is a ton of information available but there are specialists like me and the gentleman from Cobourg that go above and beyond. We do it cause we like it and strive to give you the best possible experience possible. If your in the london area I can add anyone to our invite list for an unveiling event we are hosting where I have prepared a detailed presentation. DM me your email to be added

Freg with all this time we are spending they could hire us hahahahahah
Several years ago I bought a Tesla Model S P85D. So it was the performance model. When it was time to pick it up the salesman was trying to explain the many functions on it. I had to keep correcting him as I knew more about the car than he did. He didn't last long at Tesla and he wasted an hour and a half of my time.

When I was negotiating my C7, the first salesperson explained to me how the paddles were to shift gears. My car is an M7. I was nice and asked about the clutch. He told me that was for first gear only and after that it wasn't needed... Duh... I asked to talk to the manager and never spoke to or saw the idiot again.

It's clear that the delivery experience is all over the map and, to a great extent, has lately been compromised by the pandemic. Our family has purchased many cars from Macmaster Chevrolet, in London, and "our" sales rep - Duncan McColl has shown a great ability to read the customer and gage the delivery experience accordingly. With both of my daughters' first car purchases - a Cruise and a Trax, Duncan spent well over an hour with each one, explaining how every button worked and the recommended break-in protocols. When I purchased my 2017 C7 Stingray in 2020, already with 8,000 kms on it, Duncan smiled and said "drive it like you stole it!"
Duncan gets it... be like Duncan... :)
