Hello:

the battery of my 2024 C8 was completely dead, I jumped started the C8 fine with a booster but after 5 mins the engine stopped, I re-jumped the C8 and again the engine stopped.... I then tried to jump start the car with my other car but it would not start, looks like the C8 can't get enough juice. Do you think I need a new battery as this battery can't take the charge? (BTW the headlights is on auto mode, and I'm indoors, is the headlight drawing current ... the rear and front trunk was opened also, is this a safety feature?) thks

Did you put a battery charger on the battery? That is the only way to charge a C8 battery as modern alternators are only capable of keeping a charged battery toped up.
I disagree. An alternator is more than capable of charging a discharged battery. It will take time of course. A quick google search finds this.

Modern car alternators typically output between 100 to 150 amps, although some vehicles, especially those with more electrical demands, may have alternators rated higher, potentially reaching 180 amps or even more.

If the battery has a shorted cell, it's toast. Replace it, it's the simplest, cheapest fix, to start.
You were quicker than me! LOL. I'd try replacing the battery first. You don't want to call a tow truck. Then take it to the dealer to have him check for parasitic draw.

Update:
I tried again, I was able to start and drive the car. Alternator is still good and the battery was charging. IMO, the battery was so dead that it needed sometime to accumulate the charge coming in, i think the engine stopped because the boost from the jump started last for only couple minutes. BTW there were some issues, like I could not open the door, the soft close did not work... all worked after the battery was cherged enough or the computer was fully functional. Thanks for the advice earlier. Have a good w.end.

In my experience, an alternator is a maintainer and charges at a rate based on battery voltage, electrical load and engine speed. If you are charging a dead or significantly discharged battery, your alternator will charge at a very high amperage rate (it's max rate). That is extremely hard on a battery as fast charging 150 amps into your dead battery can overheat and potentially ruin or shorten the battery's life. You are far better off to charge a badly discharged 12 volt battery with a battery charger at a slow rate. I won't charge any run down battery at more than 10 amps. An 80 amp battery will take 8 hours to charge but it won't cook the battery either.

What is the battery voltage showing on the dash? Running, I usually see 14.25 +-.

A battery that is completely discharged, (0 volts) due to a constant load while not running 3 times in a row is likely toast.
Some years ago I had a 1 month old Charger SRT. (Second car, drove it on weekends). The subwoofer amp was keeping the dash radio unit turned on constantly, the screen stayed quite warm. Battery dead. Dealer replaced the amp, charged the battery. It happened again the next week, replaced the radio. Third time, I think they replaced the body controller. Battery wouldn't take a charge, replaced.

Ya, a cars lead acid battery likes to have itself always topped up. They are not typically a deep cycle battery.

Guys, here's the bottom line from GM. An alternator on a C8 is NOT DESIGNED to charge a dead battery!
It will ONLY MAINTAIN a FULLY charged battery. A C8 will completely drain a battery in about a month if it is
not plugged into a maintainer and in many cases may not start after sitting for 3 weeks. If you purchased
the battery protection package on your car, I recommend you use it throughout the year if your car is going
to sit more than two weeks. If you did not purchase it the charger is available through our sponsor GM Parts
Depot by contacting Chris and order part #85132786.
The frunk can be completely closed by running the power cord next to the base of the windshield wiper on the
drivers side or beyond the end of the wiper on the passenger side using a microfiber cloth to keep the wire
from touching the paint.

Sorry, you are wrong. It IS designed to put out more than enough current to charge a discharged battery. Could it damage a battery? Maybe. I have my doubts about that, but don't know. I did take electronics at College, but not up on battery science.
