Hello all from sunny but recently impoverished Alberta..:Nopity: lol...
I'm fishing for some feedback for a 7 day cruise on the 12th for my gal and I. It's my 60th soon and we want to head south for a last good run before it's time to put my baby to sleep for the W******. We did a portion of Montana...Whitefish, Glacier Park road to the sun, Great falls, etc. last year and are leaning towards either South Dakota or the Yellowstone area for this trip. Preference is to average 5 hour driving days or so. Any tips for 'good' roads, places or things to see, places to stay, eat....whatever... are much appreciated.

Thx, Eric :heavycar:

That is a great drive. Cept we've done that one and Brenda is the girl that doesn't want to see the same road twice if she has a choice. lol.... She's leaning towards Yellowstone. I'm leaning towards Flathead down to Jackson and then back up through Cody to Billings....too many roads, not enough summer...lol... Thx... would love to do that coast run again someday with a group though......

I went skiing to Yellowstone / Jackson Hole 25 years ago but it was winter. Never seen Yellowstone in the summer. there was a 3.4 quake near there recently...... always wonder IF the big one will ever happen there. :) and :( http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/mb15710001#general_summary

Been to Billings for a car show 20 years ago but it was driving only down the interstate.

One other area....... Utah and Nevada

Valley of the Fire - been there - amazing drive in it.. small but so nice
Zion ( never been )
Grand Canyon ( north rim point ) never been to but been to south ridge once - amazing
Bryce Canyon ( never been to )
Lake Powell ( rent jet skis or a boat ) looks cool, want to go there with my jet ski
Capitol Reef Nat Park ( don't know too much other the one arch that has tons of pictures of )

this would be a nice drive I think.... seen tons of pictures of all these areas. Want to hit these places one day.

Yellowstone & Beartooth pass is a good trip - we took 5 couples on that a few years ago. It was a week long trip what with all the stops & things to see. PM me and I'll email you our trip route.

Hey Riley.... that sounds like a good cruise too...albeit maybe a bit shorter than a week... sounds like a helluva idea for a get together cruise someday.... getting closer and leaning now slightly toward the Waterton, St. Marys, MT., Sandpoint ID, Flathead Lake, Missoula, Buttte, Helena, Great Falls and the back to Red Deer. Too many choices...lol...This one is a 4 hour a day driving time.... time we take in the sights and all... prolly closer to 7 hour days.... just about right.... leaving the 12th so better make a decision soon...hehe....

i have done the beartooth as well. you can head to cody from there if you wish. you will probably have to check the road conditions as sept is starting to get late for the beartooth. going to the sun road already is partially closed now. good luck and have fun. beartooth is about 11,000 ft at the peak I believe.
