a friend has an 07 base vert, with auto trans. while on holiday his cruise control quit working. he brought it back to the gm dealer here in moose jaw, and they did a scan. the dealer told him there was too much tranny fluid which caused the cc to quit working. has anyone ever heard of this before? i didn't know that would even bring a code up

Personally never heard of that. The only time my cruise malfunctioned was due to needing an adjustment on the brake pedal switch. Certainly no codes for that!
Sounds weird. I'd love to know how they came to that conclusion.
I'd be more suspicious of a blown fuse or, as HLN A55 said, -- a brake pedal or control switch.
