Corvette L48 Engine for Sale

For Sale: L48 350 cubic inch Chevy engine and transmission (turbo 350), both numbers matching from a 1977 Corvette. Pulled from car with 80,000 miles on odometer. Engine used no oil, only leaked bad from front and rear seals.
Tranny leaked from both seals also, but shifted perfectly. Except for bad leaks, both worked perfectly.

Instead of fixing seals ourselves, we installed an LS1 style engine and 700R4 overdrive transmission. Huge increase in performance and fuel economy.

You're separating the numbers match motor from the numbers match car..?
I know that a 1977 isn't exactly a numbers-match '67 roadster Tri-power, with air...BUT...?
It still hurts to hear??
My original '75 L48 engine is stored away and may go back in the car someday when I give it to the grandkids..or insure it under collector plates...or find a street rod that is waiting for a 400+HP ZZ4 motor..

Mind you' someone else wanting to do at least a date-coded restoration may find your motor interesting to have.

I think I would agree with Graham. Clean it up, prep it for storage and just put it away. If nothing else it is a great conversation piece and I am sure your wife would not mind it sitting in the dinning room.

Keep it man, one day you will be sorry you sold it.

The appraiser actually values our car higher with the LS motor in it......
