That is truly unfortunate. There is no excuse for a lack of transparency in the waiting process. I would not deal with a dealer that would not tell me how many are in line ahead of me. The one thing I have learned in this process is you need to ask for the line count and your position in it, AND the available dealer allocations they will be getting. These are the key critical numbers. You can then make an informed decision on where to park your deposit. Many flock to the biggest vette dealers. Yes, they have the allocation numbers but they also have the long waiting lists to go with it. I simply ordered at my local Chev dealer. I knew at the time they only had 12 cars coming in. But I also knew I was in position 13 at the beginning and I was able to move up to be in the 12 with normal attrition that always happens when some bail out or decide to hold off for the Z06. No question that all of the plant closures have had a huge impact on the build ramp up here. So I am not trying to shame dealers for getting caught in the squeeze. I am sure if GM could have built 40,000 cars there would not be any issues at all.
