Cruise Corvette belt tensioner

Went for a nice ride yesterday beautiful weather for September . then I heard a whirling noise come from the engine area . I think it a it the belt tensioner its cover with oil from the tensioner . Have appointment on Thursday with Gm will keep you you to date . PS have extended warranty lets see how that plays out

Oil in the tensioner? Its just a spring and a wheel for the belt, where does the oil go? Is there a canister? Makes no sense to me.

It is a canister that has a hydraulic cylinder in it like a shock. It is not serviceable

It's oil dampened and they fail on a regular basis. Easy to change though

OK update on the belt tensioner and whirling noise
The tension is leaking but the noise is from the water pump both are being replaced
